P: Deletes Original if you try to export in the original folder using the original name

Hello. Don't try it on your production catalog. If you try to export in the original folder using the original name without warning LrC display a error message telling you that export was not possible. This is normal and safe. But LrC delete the original. It is not even in the trash.

And if you press on OK your original will disapear from his folder.  Tested on Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Kind regards

With the modified instructions, I was able to repro. I've logged a bug with the team.

I am not able to replicate this:

When I attempt what you are describing,  I get this dialog instead of what you are showing.

Can you provide more detail?

I originally tried it with the setting you had and I could not duplicate but then I changed "Existing Files" to "Overwrite WITHOUT WARNING" as the OP shows in the screen clip and then could duplicate the issue.

@Bob Somrak   got it. I had missed that setting.  Agreed. If the export is not performed the original should be intact.

Environment:
Running LRC 13.01 on Windows 10 Pro. My issue is reproduceable and consistent on different user's PCs. We have all updated, rebooted and all normal level 1 type modalities.  I am an advanced professional user.

Here is the issue scenario:

1). Within a folder in the catalog, in Dev Module, edit an image of any type, i.e. RAW, JPG,DNG

2). Right click image and select "EXPORT"

3). Select the following export parameters:
     - Export to same directory as original, check the Add to catalog box
     - Existing files: OVERWRITE WITHOUT WARNING

4). Select "Export"
5). You will see a box: "DESTINATION FOR PHOTO WILL REPLACE  THE EXISTING PHOTO"
6. Press OK

At this point the thumbnail of the picture you were exporting will have the EXCLAMATION icon on it.  This is because LR just deleted it.  There will be no exported file in the hard drive folder and if you synchronize the folder in LT it will say it is removing "(1)" image.
Can someone reading this explain this? It shouldn't happen, it used to work as expected.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thanks for the reply, I was pretty sure Adobe was aware, but as you might imagine the first experience I found of this was a professional shoot with 100s of images that days of editing went into. I should have noted in my original post the following additional detail:

If exporting to a different file extension, as in exporting a RAW file to a JPG, the process works as expected. The failure occurs only when exporting like extensions, as in JPG to JPG.

Thanks for the reply,
Rick
