Windows 11 21H2

If you shut down Lightroom Classic 11.3.1 with the Library Module showing, then re-launch later, the Map Module works fine.

If you shut down Lightroom Classic 11.3.1 with the Map Module showing, and then re-launch later, the Map Module is not usable. The exact form of the error changes, its not always the same, sometimes I get JavaScript error, sometimes the Map Module just freezes, other times it has other errors, but the Map Module simply doesn't work in this situation.

Try going to Library, then exiting LR.  After restarting LR, does the Map now work?  Many on Windows, and a few on Mac, have observed that the Map module can start behaving badly if you last exited LR from the Map module.

Thanks for that advice. My Map Module has been blank for days, but exiting, opening, closing and re-opening LRC made it work.

The "close it in library mode" method does not work for me in LR 13.3. to get maps working again.

Just encountered this 2.5 yo bug.

Restart from library worked, but this is paid software and this should've been fixed already.

@Jill_CI wasn't hallucinating this bug. A "community expert" should know that bugs not necessarily affect all users. And this is literally an open bug. Just because you don't have it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I didn't say that the bug didn't exist in certain configurations. To be more precise, I'm not experiencing it in LRC 13.5 on a PC with Windows 11. If you're still experiencing it, you should make sure that Adobe knows your configuration. Just to report that it still exists without any detail doesn't help them to troubleshoot.

I use the latest Windows 11 Pro version and the latest Lr version. As evident by all the post over the years, it is not dependent on a specific version and has spanned multiple Windows and Lr versions by now. Just because you have a specific combination of OS and program doesn't determine if you are affected or not. It is very likely a problem with the Lr code itself.

I did a test where I exit on the map module and re-open the program and the bug is again there. Lr say it cannot reach the Adobe map servers and no map. Back to the library, restart, go to map, works. So in my one test it was reproducible.

There are so many other factors to consider, but this is where Adobe needs to start working on this bug.

And that why I added my comment. They acknowledged the bug, but haven't fixed it for over 2 years. LrC is paid software. Adobe earns a ton of money with their subscriptions. It is bad business practice to ignore bugs like this.

I would confirm this is my experience. I have 2 monitors connected. A relatively new one - where the problems occur and the old monitor - where the map module works fine.
