Not sure if this is the right place for a bug report, if not could anyone direct me to the right place please.

Clicking develop module at top right from the Library module opens the photo with film strip and both side bars black empty spaces. Initial few times I had to quit and restart Lightroom but then discovered switching to grid view again and develop keyboard short cut, everything comes back.

Hi all,

As Simon and Jeff have already mentioned in this thread, please make sure your macOS is updated to at least macOS Sierra 10.12 and at least Lightroom Classic 7.0 or Lightroom 6.13.

The best combo to avoid this issue is being on macOS High Sierra 10.13 and Lightroom Classic 7.1 or Lightroom 6.13.

The team has worked pretty hard with Apple to get this issue to stop appearing with macOS Sierra 10.12 and macOS High Sierra 10.13. Improvements were made in 10.12 and iterated upon for 10.13.

Hi Steve,

As noted before, this is a bug introduced at the macOS level. Through collaboration with Apple, they have made a fix in the later version of the macOS update. So the right thing to do is to update to the more recent version of macOS when possible.

Having said that, Lr team have done our best to workaround this issue for the cases that we can reproduce for macOS 10.11.6. But there is a limit can Lr can do.

Hope you understand the situation.

This should now work correctly in Lightroom CC2015.10/6.10 or later on macOS Sierra (10.12) or later. Don't hesitate to let us know if you see the issue again on the current macOS, and if you do, what triggers it.  Please update your system and let us know if you have any additional issues.

Additional information on this update can be found here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2017/04/lightroom-cc-2015-10-now-available.html

Black panels bug is now also affecting El Capitan. All workarounds prove temporary.

The Lightroom team is actively investigating and working on fixing this intermittent issue of UI panels becoming Black, and we are close to finding a solution for it, however, it is not yet in the most current update (6.9/CC2015.9). We are hoping to have it fixed in next update.

For workaround information please see this document: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-panels-black-issue.html

Thank you for your patience.

I'm on Macos sierra with lightroom CC 2015.8 - When I'm moving from the library module to the development module the right and left panel disappear and become black (they are not closed, but no way to see them). I've to lunch the import module and closed it to see them reappear

Thanks for the official response. We have been waiting for months for that. It seemed like adobe either didn't notice or didn't care about this issue which affects a lot of people.

@Rikk Flohr, how do I "watch a thread"? Are you asking that visit this link every day until the issue is resolved? Won't I know there is a fix when the CC app notifies me?

I am experiencing the same issue on a 2016 MacBook Pro.  It is very frustrating, particularly considering I am paying monthly for this.

this work around fails me cuz for unknown reasons, I dont have the same choices as you.
Altho just bopping around different windows for a while buys me more production time.

Workaround

When the Lightroom panels appear as black on your Mac, follow the workaround steps given below to resolve this issue:

  1. In the Dock bar on your Mac, right-click the Lightroom icon and select Hide from the menu.

This is indeed a hassle.  I decided to roll back to LR CC 2015.7 and have not been having any more problems.  But it is irritating every month my credit card gets charged $10.70 to know that I am being forced to pay for a sub-optimized program because Adobe and Apple can't find a solution to this five-month-old problem.

When working through the Library module flagging photos as rejected with the window maximised (using the green expand button in the top-left corner), the interface around the photo becomes black.

Sometimes the interface can be restored by minimising the window or resizing it. Generally I have to close Lightroom to restore the interface to being usable.

I've only noticed this problem after the latest 2015.9 update.

I am having this issue too. Extremely frustrating when working against a deadline.  .8 and .9 both have the problem. Thanks to this thread for providing a work around in the meantime.

The panels around the actual image disappears randomly and often. The come back when Lightroom CC is closed and restarted. I have updated to latest version. This problem appeared few months ago.RackMultipart20170320338991wx4-484a9be5-5bfe-4b7f-8291-687353c52e9e-164377049.jpeg
