P: Slow UI when using Mac and Custom Display Profile

Explorer ,
Oct 22, 2020 Oct 22, 2020

Hello,

Since upgrading to Lightroom Classic v10.0, all UI-related functionality is painfully slow. All editing functions are working correctly and quickly but scrolling through the catalogue or even scrolling a side panel is taking many long seconds to refresh. Unreasonably long.

Disabling GPU Accellaration has no affect on my Lightroom's performance.

macOS Mojave 10.14.6

Mac Pro (Late 2013)

3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5

32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

AMD FirePro D700 6 GB

Please go to Help>System Info… and get us the exact installed version number of your software.

If it's 10.0 or 10.1, please review the diagnostic step in this post to see if this is the issue you are facing: https://feedback.photoshop.com/conversations/lightroom-classic/lightroom-classic-mac-user-interface-slow-after-upgrading/5f91bbf7917fbb3a9935742e?commentId=5fa06f1e72a09d24e1c2b700

Andrew, the main problem on this thread is not Adobe, it is not the bug, it is not the time to fix it, the main problem is you.

Then stop reading; no one is forcing you to be here or read my posts.

You are free to leave as I'm free to stay.

The call is yours bud.

Within one week, you will be even more ridiculous to have announced that "the fix is coming".

Long time user, new to this board (now that Lightroom has become software I am really not enjoying using). So is andrew_rodney really an Adobe employee facing the public in this role and customers this way? I have never seen anything like that if so. Even for Adobe that's hard to believe. Either he is a rogue poster pretending he has some inside info, or Adobe has even worse problems than I could have imagined.

Do I have inside information however, yes.

Maybe you should check your contract with Adobe. No communication or ethics clause?
With this kind of clause, my phone call to Adobe CEO may have some unexpected effects. It it a small small word, you know...

I guess you can be as disdainful as you want then without getting fired. I'm glad that a fix is in the works, and I appreciate you telling us that is, though really it is better in this world to treat people with less contempt if you can pull it off.

Rodney is not an Adobe employee but he does have 'inside information' - which makes him a very important person.

He knows a fix is coming 🙂

However, given his interpersonal skills, Rodney is probably unemployable.

Nope.

Now this is of course not only off topic it's CWOBaT (colossal waste of bandwidth and time).

Lastly, before I ignore you due to this fact: I wish announced that the fix is coming.

Over and out.

Correct.

My boss would never fire me.

I'm the boss. <g>.

We are now done with this part of the off topic discussion.

@andrew_rodney

Very good news if a fix is really coming. As a man with some kind of ethics and honor, as announced, I will send you a bottle of Champagne (or something else french if you do not drink alcohol), if this happens before 6 days.

About your contract, as I wrote before, Verba volant, scripta manent, and a huge number of your posts give a worse image of Adobe than only a company that spend much time to fix/test a bug than develop/test the entire new version.

Lightroom is running VERY slow for me too. I'm on Big Sur, just upgraded actually, and JUST went to the subscription of creative cloud. Now things are running really slow and I'm frustrated that I even upgraded. I was running find on Lightroom 6, but wanted the updates... I'm hopeful for a fix VERY soon!

andrew:

you write:

“Then stop reading; no one is forcing you to be here or read my posts.

You are free to leave as I'm free to stay.

that does raise the question, though, why exactly are you here??

apparently just for the fun of being an a-hole.

maybe you know a couple things about color management, but you have contributed literally nothing of value here, while the sheer number of garbage comments you’ve posted indicates that you don’t actually have anything better to do.

and maybe you published a “book” one time (over 15 years ago, and you managed to turn people off even there), but it’s obvious that you’re just a troll with no friends, droning on about his “NDA” like the dorky/jerky kid who comes back from summer vacation bragging about the hot girlfriend he has now…but…she lives in canada…

“I wish announced that the fix is coming.”

lol, who gives AF about your thirsty announcement?  what did this tell anyone?  is adobe communicating by carrier pigeon now?

by the way, maybe this kind of writing (“i wish announced…) is one reason your book is out of print.  (yeah, i know, you’re a youtuber now.)

that you would quote lou holtz is unsurprising, though.  an a-hole who was disavowed by his own former employer (notre dame) for spouting trash from his mouth-hole.

that might be a lesson for ya, nda-man.

Reverting to version 9 is not workable if you've done substantial work on the catalog since "upgrading." If they ever fix this I'm going to be sooo careful about upgrading this software. It mostly keeps getting worse every "upgrade."

@andrew_rodney , *Belinda , @photostudiotnk  and others.

Please limit your discussions strictly to this bug. Personal attacks, snide remarks, and titfortat escalations do not belong here. If you need a place to vent your frustrations with each other, the internet is filled with places to go. I do not want to close this thread as it has much of value in it but if things continue as they are, I will have to.

For those looking for the latest information on Adobe's progress on fixing this bug, bookmark this link:  It is the second post on this thread and is updated when there is new information to share or when additional information is needed from a customer to help resolve the issue.

This is a difficult issue and the team is working hard to deliver a fix. I thank you for your patience and decorum.

Hi @Rikk

You can delete all my posts on this thread, including this one.

But maybe, you could also ask everyone to stop providing non official, non verified information about the debugging process and new LR release. You are the only one here entitled to provide such information.

Best and kind regards

You can't use the 10 catalog in version 9.4 but if your photo edits were saved in the sidecar files then they will be there when you import your photos into a 9.4 catalog. I would suggest you have both 9.4 and 10.1 installed on your system as I have out previously in this thread. That way you can still access the version 10 catalog if you need to.

@Rikk  FINALLY!!! One signs on to get genuine updates and support and has to put up with this stupid childish behavior blowing up their mail box all day every day. Make sure to not leave out @bill_3305731 who is just as bad as the others. Hopefully this thread will revert back to be supportive and informational.
