P: Snapshots not available in exported smart object

I installed updates to LRC and PS. Now I have LRC 11 and PS 23.

My workflow involves creating different snapshots in LRC, export the file as smart object to PS.

"Edit In -> Open as Smart Object in Photoshop".

When I am in Photoshop, I used make duplicate layers with 'New Smart Object via Copy' and double click on the smart object layers to go to ACR and select the required snapshots in different layers.

After the upgrade, LRC is not retaining the snapshots in the smart object. Is this an intentional change or a bug?

I was hoping someday Adobe will introduce a feature where snapshots in will automatically go as layers into PS. Now even the existing functionality is gone. 😞

I just tested and at first it didn't work, but then i manually saved the xmp and the snapshots appeared. Looks like a bug.

Turning on "Automatically write changes into XMP" option in Catalog settings solved the issue. Thank you for trying this. It helped!!  I believe I had that option turned off.

A save to XMP must be performed for this to work as expected.

Either:

[Ctrl/Cmd] + [ S ] to save metadata to file prior to sending to CR in PS.

or

Enable Autowrite XMP in preferences.

why would Lr not be coded to save the xmp before sending to Ps? Seems like an easy way to frustrate and confuse a lot of folks...

Perhaps I overlooked that requirement in the what is new document.

But then, I am not a big PS user, so I may have never tried.

If this is a new procedure, then place it in the what is new document please.

If I overlooked it, please respond back with a screenshot and state I am wrong, please see this image.

Oh, and a pop up warning dialog in LrC, stating you are not saving to xmp would be helpful.
