P: Unable to advance to the next photo

Why no one writes about the fact that in develop mode, after any manipulation with a photo, it is impossible to go to the next photo in the feed? You go, but the photo remains the same as it was, you have to go back and only then go to the next photo. This is a global problem!!  Anyway, I did some research and I realized why many people are silent about it, because this problem occurs only when using the +\- buttons on any keyboard, even on macbook !!!!. If you use only mouse or touchpad, there is no problem with photo transition. That's why many photographers don't pay attention to it, because they don't use the keyboard. Therefore, ADOBE does not react in any way.

@vitalyn38151610 I've check this on my system (Windows 10, LR 13.0.1) and can't reproduce this issue. Lr worked as it should.

Do you have tried to reset the preferences as I wrote in my former post?

@vitalyn38151610 , See the attached screenshot, + / - keyboard shortcut use.

The + and - keys do not navigate the images in the filmstrip in develop module.

@AxelMatt  This is just a mockery, yes, I did everything that was said here, and settings reset too, and rolled back to version 12.5 and again updated lightroom to 13.0.1 the result is no result, as soon as I process a photo on the keyboard, to go to the next with the first time is not possible. Check out the screenshot of the screen, I did it just now. Version 13.0.1 In the ribbon one photo is highlighted, on the screen another. Why this was not in version 12.5 ? It's the same on Windows. I'm not the only one with this problem. Sorry

Excactly the same issue here. Filmstrip advances but the main doesn't. The edits you perform are done on the photo in the main view.

I don't seem to get it when i use cmd + arrow to advance the images, nor do i get it when i use the next and previous on my loupedeck.

I tried optimizing the catalog, but that didn't help anything.

Just chiming in here again.... I did the update last week when I was halfway through a wedding. So, to finish it, I ended up exporting all the edits I already finished. Then renmaed the raw files in which I culled. THEN, went back to 12.5 and reimported everything. It worked.  I'm now back running 12.5 and I'm not updating anything until I hear the new update is working and fixed. So for anyone like me that's stuck in the middle of a job, the above works fine.

I then went back to 12.5, reimported those finished jpegs, and finished the

I have been able to get around this issue - somewhat. Albeit, its not most efficient - it works if you're stuck on v13.0.1.

I've discovered that if I edit an image quickly and move with my rigth arrow key to advance, sometimes the main image does not appear (does not match the filmstrip image).  So what I did was, make my edits, then wait for the top left preview (in Navigator) to render. Then, if you advance, it will always show the correct image.  It appears that this is a smart preview/render issue.

For those with fast machines that work with high volume projects like myself (wedding photographer), even waiting 1 full second for the preview to render is too long as I've never had to do that with my M1 Mac Studio.

What's more worrysome is that Adobe doesn't even set this bug as 'Aknowledged'. Come on Adobe!

@Martinomac  ADOBE does not confirm the status of the error because the so-called "experts" do not see it for some reason, all the experts who wrote here, think only about themselves and that everything works for them, and they absolutely do not care about others, about us, who present them facts, photos with the problem and I am afraid that we can stay with this error and stuck on the old version 12.5. I did not think that ADOBE is such a slippery organization, which is not possible to contact directly!

@vitalyn38151610 , In your opening post you stated "Anyway, I did some research and I realized why many people are silent about it, because this problem occurs only when using the +\- buttons on any keyboard, even on macbook !!!!."

I have also done extensive checking and cannot find any information that the + or - keys can be used to navigate through thumbnails in LrC.
I have checked on my iMac running macOS Big Sur and LrC 12.5 and my Windows 11 Laptop with LrC 13.

Do you have any information that indicates that those keyboard shortcuts can be used for this purpose with Lightroom Classic?

There is an extensive keyboard shortcuts list in PDF format that can be obtained from Lightroomqueen.com forum.

@DdeGannes  You misunderstood what I was writing. I didn't mean navigation or keyboard shortcuts. I meant using these buttons to correct for example the exposure, instead of doing it with the mouse on the slider! That's what I mean. i.e. I correct a photo with the + or - buttons and can't go to the next photo. If I do it with the mouse, there is no problem. That's it

I just saw your message- you’re so much better off to stop what you're doing and go back to 12.5 until it’s all resolved.

Friends, I finally got a response from ADOBE. Here's what they told me: "I really appreciate your time and patience. As checked, this issue has been already reported and a log has been already created for it. Our engineering team is working on it. This should be fixed in upcoming updates of Lightroom Classic."  I hope it's soon!

Any chance we can re-title this thread? There's a few people posting about the same issues but in new topics and it should be replying to this one.

Hi all, here is a workaround that you can try:

In Lightroom Classic (macOS) / Edit (Windows) > Preferences > Performance > Turn off 'Use Smart Previews instead of Original for image Editing' if it is enabled & it should help.

If your workflow depends on the feature mentioned above, please wait a while longer & continue using the mouse or trackpad to advance. The team is aware of this and is currently working on it.

Thanks,
Sameer K

To get it to move to the next photo without any issues, make any adjustments and wait for the navigator preview in develop to update, then you can move to the next photo without an issue. It's slow, yes, but I think is better than pressing "next next back" to get it to show.

@Sameer K  Sameer, thanks for responding. This workaround also does not work, the point is that if you work quickly, it is not possible to go to the next photo, if you wait until the photo is loaded in the navigation, then you can. But the workaround you suggested does not work. So we are waiting for an update. Thanks again

This doesnt help, as without the smart previews, Lightroom spends an age generating the images, which takes longer than going back an image then forwards again.

Please please Adobe can we have a fix for this? never mind poitn colour, new masks or any other fancy new fucntions, being able to move from oen image the next is perhaps the most basic function there is, and it doesn't work. Is there a way I can roll back to a previous version that does work?

Moving back and forth using cmd + arrow left/right seems to work ok. (I don't know what shortcut on windwows).

If you have some keyboard that does macro's or custom keybinds you could set that cmd + arrow to that.
