Adobe Lightroom Classic - Unusably Slow Export 2019
Dear Adobe Community... I'm hoping you can help.
I am running Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 9.1 (Camera RAW 12.1) on my ageing Macbook Pro.
It may be a relic, but my trusty Macbook Pro has been a very high performing relic for a number of years, including very fast image processing via past versions of Lightroom ... until now.
I run a 15" 2013 Macbook Pro Retina, 2.8GHz quad-core Intel i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory & NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 / Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB MB Graphics Processor and a 751.07 GB Apple SSD.
Less than 12 months ago Lightroom worked near flawlessly, albeit a bit slow on the larger RAW NEF file sizes encountered by my Nikon Z7 and Nikon D850 camera's.
However over the past 12 months the export process has been slowing to a point whereby now it is damned near unuseable. A single file is taking more than a minute to process....and the same file in photo mechanic is taking a number of seconds.
It's easy to assume this is to do with the computer specs... however the ability for Photo Mechanic or Capture 1 to process the images near instantaneously suggests this is an Adobe issue or a Lightroom settings issue.
I tried performing a 1000 NEF export overnight, simultaneously exporting x4 individual export processes, something I could do in previous Lightroom iterations happily, however on returning to my laptop this morning, (8 hours later) it had exported less than 200 of the intended 4000 image export... Less than 200 images in 8 hours???
If I go back into my catalogue, even during export, (Catalogue has only 5000 images in it) I can preview, tag, organise and edit as per normal... it is simply the export process that is failing.
I have tried clearing caches, switching between Auto Custom & Off on the 'Use Graphics processor' setting in Preferences/performance. I have shut down and restarted the computer, restarted lightroom and optimized the catalogue.
This issue is now at a crux pont whereby the benefits of lightroom's editing process is being outweighed by the issues surrounding the export and so I am hoping somebody out there in cyber-space can help.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Cheers
Mark
