Question

An internal error has occurred Error: UNIQUE constraint failed

I opened an older catalog today (from 2019) and needed to update the folder location of several folders ( as I moved the original folders to an extrenal hardrive). When I right click the folder to update the folder location - it appears to work (no error messages) but the image thumbnails are still empty with "!" in the top right corner or thumbnail. If I click "show in finder" for the folder- it takes me to the correct location for the folder. When I attempt to "update the folder location" again because all the thumbnails are blank- I get a pop up window that says "An internal error has occurred. Error: UNIQUE constraint failed: AgLibraryFolder.rootFolder,........" I am running the monthly subscription Lightroom Classic 11.1 and MacOS Monterey Version 12.1

Please let me know what I can do about this- as I have around 25,000 combined images in this catalog - and all images except those in one folder is showing up as completely blank thumbnails (but the color coding that I added years ago of blue & red is showing in the blank thumbnails).

Thanks,

Cathlene

HiCathlene,

That definitely should not be happening, let us help make this right.

As you're seeing a Unique Constraint Failed error in Lightroom, could you please let us know the exact version of Lightroom and the operating system you're working with?

Could you please have a look at this thread and let us know if it helps: Lightroom Classic: 'unique constraint failed' error | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Hi Sahil,

I already answered both of your questions in my initial post. And no- the thread link you posted does not help my issue- which happens when trying to update the folder location- unlike those in the thread. Also I have over 25,000 combiend images in this catalog so just creating a new catalog and re-importing the images is not a solution at all- but instead a nightmare.

Please advice me how to get this bug fixed.

Thanks so much,

Cathlene
