Question

Automatic edits being applied to my RAW file

In Lightroom Classic, when I click on Develop an edit is automatically applied to my RAW file image. This never happened before, but has been going on for a couple months now. Basically the edit has the effect of added contrast. I do not wish fr this edit to be applied as I find I now have to "back" the edit out. How do I keep this automatic edit to my RAW file from occurring?

Or there is this explanation-

Why do I see my images change after they are imported into Lightroom? | Laura Shoe's Lightroom Training, Tutorials and Tips

And since that article was written it is now possible to import images uing "Embedded and sidecar" Previews (ie. as per the camera view), and only at the time you Develop (edit) the image does LrC apply a default profile (Set in Preferences) to the image.

A thumbnail of an image imported with previews "Embedded and sidecar" will show a small icon that disappears when you edit the image.-

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .

Have you tried resetting the Lightroom Classic Preference file? Doing so often fixes odd behaviour such as you describe.

The procedure is descrtibed in Method 1 of the following Adobe Help document
