I get a Enhance errors: Denoise was not applied - there was an unknown error (1)

I just noticed that you're using a Mac mini. If this is the 2018 model, then your computer uses an integrated GPU (Intel UHD Graphics 630) which has got access to around 1.5GB of shared system memory. The system requirements for LrC 12.x are linked to below. Note the minium GPU memory is 2GB. I suspect this is the reason Denoise doesn't work on your system.

I think only the Iris Plus was incompatible with People masking. The older Iris Pro has been fine for People masking on any image I've tried, and I haven't seen any reports of People masking failing with the Pro. So officially the minimum is 2 GB of VRAM, but the Iris Pro with 1536 MB works anyway. I just thought Denoise might be a bridge too far for my Iris Pro, but that also works.

Here's a possible workaround that might be worth trying:
I got the same error sometimes on my 2020 MacBook Air which uses a very similar graphics card (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB). Only difference is, I don't use LR(C) for RAW import but the Adobe Camera Raw plugin in Photoshop. Even though the system requirements are the same (min. 2GB graphics memory), it imports one RAW file at a time and therefore seems to be less demanding on the GPU.
I figured out that turning off all other applications that use the GPU (Browser tabs with embedded videos, VLC, etc.) frees just enough graphics memory for Adobe's AI denoise tool to finish without errors.
I also quit and restart Photoshop/ACR before using the AI denoise function on another photo.

@Yuval Barkai and @Martin.J.D, LR gives "unknown error" when an AI command chokes on the graphics processor, usually because it has an out-of-date (buggy) graphics driver.
Martin, update your graphics driver by going directly to the manufacturer's web site:

Yuval, the only way to get a newer Mac graphics driver is by updating Mac OS to the latest version your hardware will support.
Martin and Yuval, if updating the graphics driver doesn't help, please copy/paste here the entire contents of the LR menu command Help > System Info -- that will let us see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.
Note that LR's AI commands always use the graphics processor regardless of the setting of Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor:

This is the error message, odd thing is - worked fine on the first 2 images this morning, then stopped working. Enhance time went from 3 minutes to 24 minutes on said image but failed.

The GTX 1060 is a seven-year-old card, so it's very possible Nvidia has stopped fixing card-specific errors in the driver for that card. Also, based on many reports here and Nvidia release notes for recent drivers, Nvidia has had stability issues with recent drivers and Adobe apps. So I suggest these next steps:
1. Determine whether this is a driver issue by booting into Windows safe mode, running LR, and doing Denoise on the image causing problems. Running in safe mode disables the GPU, so LR will use the CPU. If you still get the same error, then it's not the graphics driver. If you do get the same error:
2. Try rolling back to a Studio driver version from, say, 6 months ago. There have been a number of reports here that older Nvidia drivers on some cards work better for LR's AI commands than the recent drivers. Nvidia buries the "Advanced Driver Search" for finding old drivers:

Been playing around and noticed Hyper Threading was disabled in the bios so I re enabled it, just enhanced around 8 images with denoise and no isssues..
Been taking around 3 minutes to run.. Not sure if this was the fix but all seems ok for the moment.

If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, then try rolling back to a 6-month-old driver.

Thanks, I found out from @Ian Lyons that the macmini 2018 is not supported(GPU with less than 2GB). ill stay with Topaz until ill upgrade my machine 😕

I just installed the new version of Lightroom Classic. The Denoise AI function worked for a while and then stopped.
I take pictures. I don't fix computer operating systems. I'm going back to Luminar, where the Noiseless and Supersharp extensions actually work.

I've been having the same problem in LR. I got a few to work but now they won't. However, I'm able to do it in ACR no problem (so far, anyway!). It's killing my workflow but it's working.

You've got the most recent graphics driver.
That graphics hardware is six years old -- not ancient, but LR has problems with older cards, perhaps because the manufacturers aren't as aggressive at fixing bugs in their graphics drivers for the older hardware.
You also have just shy of 2 GB of graphics memory, the minimum "required" by LR. This could cause issues especially with People masking and with the new Denoise.

Yeah, it's not the newest and it's pretty bare bones. Masking has worked fine. Denoise did for a bit and then died on me, but it seems to work fine in ACR until I can upgrade, which is why I mentioned it - maybe it can help someone else 🙂

in Photoshop where is the noise reduction slider in RAW editing.
updated to 24.4.1 on a Mac the NOISE REDUCTION slider in Photoshop is gone. whatever DENOISE is, 1)it takes over ONE minute per file and doesn't allow you to customize. why would you remove a major feature and replace it with one that doesn't work and takes over 1 minute Per file?
