Question

Export RAW image with edits from lightroom mobile

I have edited some images in the lightroom app, but I want to finish editing it on lightroom desktop. I can only get the original RAW file from my mobile device but without any of the changes I already did. Is there a way to export with settings from lightroom mobile?

There is a way to do this as of Aug 2022
(Adobe may improve or remove this in future revisions.)

It's not immediately evident in the interface, but the process is fairly simple once you know how to do it.

This is via Lightroom Mobile to Lightroom Classic (Lightroom may have a slightly different interface):

  • From Lightroom on your mobile device, select the photo and tap the actions button in the top menu
  • Choose Export as…
  • Choose Original or DNG as file format.
  • You'll get an export dialog asking you what you want to do with the export.
Choose email and mail to yourself.
(Or choose any file export location that suits you as long as you can get access to the actual file.
  • When you get the email. Place the file on your hard drive in a place that's appropriate to how you organize your photos.
  • Import the file from your hard drive into lightroom either by dragging to your Lightroom library window (easiest), or navigate to the file by Lightroom's internal file browser at the left of the Lightroom window.
  • The file will be added with all edit metadata (e.g. adjustments, cropping, masking, etc)
  • NOTE: Ifn you open such exported files directly in Photoshop via Camera RAW rather than importing to Lightroom, you may get all of the edits etc, but the area outside the crop rectangle may be lost.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Tom

NOTE:
This method is for those who do not automatically have all their shots sync via Adobe Cloud.
It will work for others too, but you may not need it — I leave that to you.
(Default syncing via cloud is not a feasible workflow for many professionals like myself. Many of us in the profession set our default not to sync via cloud, and only sync a very small number of select images. If you're one of those professionals, you know why, and I don't have to tell you. But, if you're just someone who doesn't want to have every photo you shoot be dumped into the cloud by default, this should work for you too. Cheers : )

Saya sudah berlangganan lightroom mobile namun setiap kali saya mencoba untuk mengimpor gambar RAW warna foto selalu berubah menjadi hitam putih, apakah ada jalan keluar bagi saya untuk mengatasi masalah ini?

"import a RAW image the color of the photo always changes to black and white"

Do you have a 'Monochrome' profile (eg. a Scene mode) set in the camera?  Lightroom will show your photo using the set camera profile.

Until you discover why this is happening, you should be able to choose and set a Color Profile in the Edit mode of Lightroom. (RAW image files always retain 'color'.)

From what I have been able to determine, the “export original” option is only available for specific purposes. If you take a photograph using your iPhone or iPad in RAW mode, you will have the option of working on it and “export original”.  If you upload a RAW, DNG or PSD file to iCloud and then import it to Lightroom mobile, you will have the option to “export original”.  If you are using a synced RAW, DNG or PSD file, you will not have the option to “export original”.

In my workflow, I upload images to my home workstation, create a collection for that specific shoot and sync to Adobe’s Creative Cloud.  I then open Lightroom Mobile on my iPad Pro and sync the new files.  I also select “store locally”, because this allows me to work on the images independent of network access.  The edits are also remarkably fast.

What I find disappointing is that I have not found a way to output the original file with the changes I’ve made to a high quality file.  I can output to a limited size jpg, but the “export original” option is not available.  If I want the full file, let’s say to open in another editor like Affinity Photo, I have to sync the files back to my home system and export the full file to icloud and then import to the editor.  I should be able to export a full size original (RAW, DNG, whatever) on my iPad and open in another editor.  This would seem like a reasonable request for a normal workflow.  If I’ve missed something, please don’t hesitate to inform me, I’ve been working on this for a while.

The only "other editor" that would have the capability to open a raw (original raw or DNG) would be another raw converter. Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements or any other "regular" photo editor would not be able to open the raw file because those editors, without a raw converter, don't have the capability to open raw images. That's why Photoshop needs Camera Raw. If you had Photoshop installed without the camera raw plug-in, it would be impossible to open raw files.

Fine, I’d settle for the ability to output a high quality jpg.  From what I’ve seen, my choices are “2048pxl or max available” - neither of which is very good and certainly not close to what I can output using the desktop software. Oh, and Affinity Photo for iPad opens Canon RAW just fine.

Assuming you have both Lr mobile and desktop synced to the Adobe Cloud then any edits applied in mobile should sync to the desktop.

How are you getting 'the original RAW file from the mobile device' to the desktop?

How can I export a raw image from Lightroom CC mobile, either with, or without changes?  The option to ’export original’ from the ’share’ Dropdown is visible, but not selectable.

Isn't the raw image already on the desktop, along with the adjustments that were made on the mobile? If everything is synchronized properly, that's the way it should be.
