FTP transfer failed with message 'an unknown error occurred'

Hi all! First time poster here. Go easy on me 😉

I'm trying to upload a web gallery via sFTP. This was working fine recently, but now can't get it to upload. Our password/username with our web host was changed yesterday, but I've entered the new credentials multiple times, double and triple checked, connected to the server using the same credentials via different software, but still can't get Lightroom to successfully connect/upload.

My LRCC app is up to date. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I am having this same problem. I have verified the login credentials via filezilla, which works perfectly. I have also contacted my web host, and they have said that the error that they see on their end is that lightroom is using an outdated sftp protocol, which is no longer considered secure, and is no longer supported on their server.

Hi Christina,

Sorry about the trouble caused. I'd recommend that you share this on our Lightroom feedback community so that our Engineers can take a look into this

Hi there,

Sorry about the delay in our response and that you're having trouble uploading images to your web page using FTP settings.

Are you using a FTP preset to upload the web pages? If so, please try deleting it once and then re-upload the page. Refer the steps below:

  • In the Upload Settings panel on the right side of the Web module, choose Edit from the FTP Server menu.
  • Choose a preset from the Preset menu.
  • Choose Delete Preset [Name Of Preset] from the Preset menu.
  • Click Delete to complete the operation, then click OK to close the Configure FTP FIle Transfer dialog box.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

The sftp requirements for my host are listed here:

I am running the latest version of lightroom classic CC. I appreciate your help in getting this issue resolved quickly.

Thanks,

Christina

ps. I have tried resetting the preset and creating a new preset. This did not make any difference.
