How to make the DNG Converter download work?

I downloaded and installed the DNG Converter 10.0.  I then tried to import images taken with a Canon D200 SL2 rebel, released in July 2017, into Lightroom 5.7 and nothing happens.  Am I missing a step?   What else do I need to do to import these images as dng files into Lightroom?  If you know, please give this non-computer person step by step instructions.  Thanks.

The DNG converter program is a Stand Alone program. It does not work in conjunction with LR.

To use it you have to first have your image files in a folder. Then Open the converter program and point it to that folder. make change to any of the options that suit you and then click the Convert button.

Once that finishes you can then import the DNG image files into LR 5.
