Import and export folders

I have 150 folders holding 15-20 images each.  I want to import the folders then export them into new folders after making the files a smaller size.

This was the recommended steps from a facebook lightroom group.  It isn't working:

I have selected the folders that I want and use the Copy Import Method

I have set the Destination panel :

Into subfolder Checked "For Export"

Organize "By original folders.

Then hit Import

I select the For Export Folder and select Export

In the Export Panel "Export to Same Folder as Original"

Add to this Catalog

Existing Files "Overwrite without Warning"

In general, I think the idea of desiring smaller file sizes is a poor workflow choice with LrC. I think the idea of overwriting originals is destructive and harmful and will produce problems. I would not recommend this workflow at all. In fact, I recommend you avoid this workflow. Why are you concerned about having smaller files?

Because it is for school and I don’t want them screen shotting them as they have in the past - watermark and all.

Why do you think that is a bad idea and how is this a waste of my time?

To be specific and detailed the steps that I follow are not exporting the images.

I don’t know how else to explain what is going on.
Hope that helps you understand why I want smaller files and what is happening.
Thank you so much.

This problem of people capturing your photos via screen shot can be solved (or mitigated) by exporting only at low resolution; not by making the originals smaller.
