Import creating DUPLICATES, how to find, delete duplicates?

I am consolidating my photos from various thumb drives and camera SD disks, onto one drive, using Lightroom Classic.  I always make sure "do not import suspected duplicates" is checked.  After this precise process, I have ended up with many many duplicates, sometime 3-5 of the same image.  HOW do I use Lightroom to find these duplicates, so my catalog will be intact and of course smaller?  Thanks!

If the files have the same file name, you could sort by file name, and identify the duplicates that way. Similarly, if the photos have the same capture date, you could sort by capture date. Then you can delete the unwanted photos by selecting the photos and then pressing Delete.

Is that the only way as that is obviously obvious and not very helpful if you ahem several hundred / thousand as sheryl probably has

There must be an easier way surely

    If not, why not Adobe?

It's probably not the ONLY way.

Don't bother asking Adobe questions here in this forum, this is a user-to-user forum.
