Lightroom 5 issue with publish to facebook export plugin: not authorized status

Hi,

trying to connect Lr 5 to fb and being stuck at the authorization process.

In the facebook publish plugin within Lr I hit the 'authorize on facebook'.

IE is launched, facebook opened and it guides me throug the usual step, everything looking normal and fine.

Facebook finally states the app is added and authorized (this is showing up under apps as well looking good).

However Lr is taking a moment to realize the authorization process is done, but then it goes to 'not authorized' status instead of authorized.

I simply tried doing it again, it restarts the process but facebook than gives an error.

I assumed this was due to the app already being there listed under authorized apps, so I removed the app on facebook. fb worked again through the process, but Lr keeps getting not authorized out of it while it is perfectly fine and authorized looking on facebook..

Umm..  help?

Thanks for any clues, I'm a bit well clueless right now 😜

Cheers

I found that if I have my business Facebook page linked to my private account, you have to set up lightroom through your private facebook page for it to work. (So have to login to private Facebook page) for the authorize to work.

    Hello,

this is a Facebook problem and not a Lr problem !

Go into Facebook, open your account and go into account settings. There you will find a passage called apps, open it and you see all programs and apps that are allowed to 'play' with your account. There you will find Adobe Photoshop Lightroom in the list. Delete it from there, so that Lightroom has no more the permission to do anything with your Facebook account.

After this, go into Lightroom, chose the exporting services for Facebook, right click on it and connect it to Facebook with your account name and password like you did it before.

That should solve the problem in complete !

    Good luck

    Greetings All,

I was running into the same problem. I had facebook working on 2 machines with no problems. After doing an entire system wipe out on my main computer and reinstalling Lightroom I started having problem with facebook not authorizing lightroom. My problem was fixed once I deleted the app entirely from facebook, by going to the facebook setting page and selecting apps. I also deauthorize my  other computer and everything worked well after that.

    Hi,

I could solve exactly this issue. it looks that Lightroom does everything well, but Facebook is causing the trouble.

So I went to account-settings in facebook, moved to apps ( on the left handed panel) and removed Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

After this, I went to the facebook publishing service and connected it again to Facebook. It opened Facebook, I prressed connect and after 5 seconds everything was fine.

The background of this problem seems to me that I changed the computer - and facebook seems to allow only one Lightroom instance to be connected.

Hope it will help you all, too !

I am not certain this is related.

I use it from my two Mac Laptops and My PC desktop all to publish to the same FB account.  Multiple computers are no problem here.

    Hi Rikk,

perhaps my conclusion was wrong, but what I did solved the problem. Removing the apps-account for Lr from facebook and recreate it solved the problem in complete.

    Best wishes

The instructions on this page resolved the problem for me, even though it was for LR3 (I'm running LR5 on a Win8 machine):

Still having the same issue.  It functions correctly with regard to opening Safari but then after receiving Authorization through Facebook's process and verifying that it is authorized through the Apps window in settings on my Facebook page I still don't see that Authorization is allowed when I look at the Plugin.  Help!!

I cannot authorize Facebook in Lightroom either. You'd think companies like Facebook and Adobe would have this fixed in an afternoon.

Just that I also cannot authorise Lightroom 5 with Facebook, using 64 bit Lightroom on Windows 8.

I am having the same problem in MacOs. I am not able to authorise for facebook in lightroom 5. I am able to authorise Flickr by the way. I don't know where things go wrong here. Hopefully there will be a solution at short notice. p.s. i am able to authorsie aperture for facebook.

Adobe has advised us via the Lightroom Facebook page that this is a problem with changes that Facebook made to their API. We are waiting for Facebook to fiix it. There is no ETA.

hmmm this is bad news. I was already afraid the problem was with facebook (as flickr is working). I guess I am going to stick with aperture a bit longer.....

I am having similar troubles. I try to Authorize on Facebook. It loads the page on Facebook. I click connect and nothing happens.

I tried to re-authorize in Lightroom 4 and it showed a different set of pages for authorization but it "Failed to recieve authentication token." when it was finished.

Having exactly the problem described by you Nicolas (right at this moment again - been trying for weeks). Wonder if this will takes weeks - expected relief quickly. Unfortunately I am dependent on Facebook for coverage otherwise I wouldn't bother

    Same for me.

Doesn't work anymore; I tried de-authorizing in Facebook, and starting the process again in LR: I'm stuck on the Facebook page where it says to click Connect.

    Kind of a pain.

Anyone knows how to delete the Facebook preferences from Lightroom on a Mac?
