There is no update available in creative cloud. I would love to test this, but without the update there is little I can do.

There should be today, I just downloaded it. Too soon to say if it solves the problem yet though.

Hi just wondering if anyone has found a solution to this problem yet? Pulling my hair out! Thanks

Not to my knowledge no. If I had any hair I would be pulling mine out too.

The issue is back so it was not simply a memory issue.

Also I found the crash log and it is exactly the same thread that crashes (AsyncDataServer). If anybody wants to make sure if there issue is the same as ours, use any Text Editor to open the latest crash file in the folder:

/Users/<username>/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Adobe Lightroom Classic_<timestamp>_<computer>.crash

Search for a line that says "Crashed:: AsyncDataServer" inside that file and if the lines below in the file are the following, it's the same issue:

and in plain English?

Sorry timb1, I am just explaining how one can check if their issue is the same as the original question. In my case I found exactly the same lines in the crash log file so I am pretty sure it is the same issue. I am suggesting that you should check your crash log too before waiting on that thread for someone to find a solution. Otherwise that solution (if we get one) may not apply to your particular issue.

Me too. I have been away for a week, got back, turned on computer (iMac with plenty of memory), opened Lightroom Classic which was working FAULTLESSLY previously, tried to import several folders of new photos, the bloody thing crashes every time half way through the import. The folders are large, with 1,600 photos in one, but this has NEVER been an issue before. IMMENSELY frustrating and those reports to Apple do nothing to solve the problem. Desperate for a solution - this for WORK, not a hobby.

In my case the issue might have been memory-related. I rebooted my Mac and then was able to do one full import of about 50 photos in one go. We'll see if the next import is successful too.

@ marricaevans

This morning when I mounted my SD and XQD cards, which is my normal workflow, to import into LR I experienced the same crash...I started freaking out!

I began removing peripherals that were plugged in, rebooted my MBP, opened LR and began introducing peripherals one at a time. What I found was a bug with LR that when 2 cards were mounted at the same time to import into LR it would consistently crash.

My work around is to import one at a time. So far so good.

Looking at your error details, they are the exact same as mine.

You may not be getting the crash with the EXACT workflow, but I wonder what else you might have plugged into your MBP that could be unplugged to see if it makes a difference for you like it did for me.

Hope this helps

jv

BTW @Abobe: Please patch this bug. Many pro photogs mount more than one card for import at a time and it is less efficient using the workaround.

I have that same issue too since I updated to Lightroom Classic CC yesterday. It is very frustrating.

Where do you find the error log? Mine just crashes without any message.

Also, in case it helps Adobe fix the issue, my issue looks identical but my workflow is slightly different. I use two cards in my 5D Mark IV, one for Dual Pixel RAWs and one for JPEGs. I use a script to import them into a single folder in my computer. So in my case when I import the photos in LR, the cards are already ejected from the computer and I only import one folder but it comes from two cards.

Cheers,

Tom

I've tried importing from the folder on my desktop and it still crashes! Sometimes it goes through but most times its crashing upon upload.
