Lightroom won't open

I've been trying everything all day to get my catalog and just lightroom to open and it won't.

In the catalog file I did try deleting the "lock" file but that didn't help. There are two other files that start trying to sync within the catalog. 

What can I do?

At the moment, unsure. Can you provide the version of Lightroom Classic you are using and your operating system and version?

using the latest update on classic. windows 10. all i get is a message on the desktop that says "lightroom - opening catalog vr10.lcat" but nothing. and -shm and -wal file apprearing and disappearing.

I understand you'd be frustrated with this Lisa.

There was a .lock file which you deleted?

Post a screen shot of the sync issue if you like, but please use the "Insert Photos" icon and not the "Insert/Edit Link" icon in the post reply window.

If Lightroom is not open then there should NOT be a .LOCK file next to your catalog.

You need to delete the one file called {Lightroom Catalog-v10.lrcat.lock} to enable you to open the Catalog.

DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE!

And your Catalog {Lightroom Catalog-v10}does not have a file-type suffix showing! Why is this?  Has it been renamed or the name changed?  Other files show their file-type.  It should show as {Lightroom Catalog-v10.lrcat} !! with the ".lrcat" file-type.

After deleting the .LOCK file- [Double-Click] on the Catalog file (with its correct file-type suffix) to open it.  {Lightroom Catalog-v10.lrcat}
