Metadata filters not updating?

Running 2022 M1 Mac Sonomoa 14.4.1 with LR Classic 13.2

 

I rely heavily on the metadata filters in my workflow - such as sorting by color label, serial number, ect. LR no longers updates those things automatically. Example, I open collection in LR, and filter by smart preview status. I select the photos labeled as "no smart preview",  and then Library > Previews > Build smart previews. However, the metadata filters still show x amount of photos as having no smart preview. 

 

This same issue exists if I move to a different collection, the column still shows the number of files from the previous collection. I can change the metadata filter to anything else (example, file type) and while the header changes, the data below does not. The issue persists in this same fashion across all metadata filter options (changing the label color, flag status, rating, treatement, ect)

 

The only way to get it to reset and read the correct data is to restart LR, which is INCREDIBLY frustrating. Attached screen capture in two parts for ease of upload. 

 

As you watch, note at the top in the metadata filter bar that the "no smart previews" doesn't update, but the number in the filmstrip does. Once it's completed, the number in the metadata filter bar STILL doesn't update, whether I click out of the collection & back in. NOTHING WORKS PLEASE HELP.

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

 

If resetting doesn't help, then please post the screen recordings you mentioned. They weren't attached to your original post.

    That's vague. Where in the preferences menu? I have most of those set to
    exactly how I want them, and have for a long time. There's nothing in there
    that directly corresponds to reading metadata. This is a new issue, with
    v13. It feels like it's caching some information somewhere and can't update
    it, but there's no obvious place to "clear cache" for metadata without
    telling LR to "read metadata" every time I make a change, which would be
    incredibly slow.

    There is nothing vague about it. You need to reset the preferences (because they may have gotten corrupted), not change something in the preferences. Read the link and just follow the instructions.
