Hello,

I have installed LR 6 on new machine. I can't activate it unless deactivated on other machine. So on other machine I did "Sign out". There is a message - "it will deactivate LR on this machine" - I clicked OK. Still can't activate. On my Adobe account there is nothing under Plans and payment->Activated devices.

So haw can I use a product on new machine? I know LR 6 is quite old, but still it is something I purchuased and I want to use.

Correct answer CMass

Adobe no longer supports Lightroom 6.14 (perpetual).

What does this mean?

  • Installers, one-on-one technical support, security fixes, and bug fixes are not available for perpetual license versions. User to user led support is available through our Adobe Support Community.

For the latest updates and fixes please subscribe to a Photography, Lightroom, or Creative Cloud plan. Please be aware that there are two versions of Lightroom today.

Hi I am having the same problems that you are having

Provide a detailed explanation of your "problems'

my laptop that I had my Lightroom 6 is now broken

How? What Operating System and OS Number was it?

so had to get a new one

What Operating System and OS Number?

and tryed to down load LR6

From where and how?

and have the same problems as you,

Is that 'Activation', 'Install', or something else?

I have got two controlers that I use one is Xtouch mini the other is loupdeck

Loupedeck works with Lr v6.14 and Lr-Classic. ( I use one)

Hello Everyone,

I had an old version of LR (number 6) and as my laptop crashed I wanted to install it on my new computer but at the end of the installation it says

Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR: DS003 ...

 - 1 fatal error(s), 0 error(s
FATAL: DS003: Installer package might be corrupt. Re-download the installer and try again.
I did it few times with the same result
I bought the software myself so it can't be corrupt

Could you help me please ????

I think there is no way! The only thing that you have to pay monthly for Creative version to use the newest Photoshop for photo editing! I used to call for help from Adobe customer support few months ago and was told so!

You need to contact Adobe (most of us are not Adobe here in this forum). A person at Adobe who sometimes helps with activation problems goes by the name of @CMass , email her her directly from this forum, and see if she can help.

Resetting Activations for Lightroom-6 (De-activating) is NOT available online. It cannot be done from the Lightroom user interface.

The only possible way to reset Activations is to CHAT with a sympathetic Adobe staff member-(and not all are helpful!) that understands your request.

See the Correct answer in this thread.

Yes I did chat with a customer support (or whoever was able to chat), but the answer was frustrated! They said Adobe currently disabled all old LRs and PSEs, so you won't be able to reactivate them if you clean out or change your computers, laptops! Otherwise they referred you to get the new creative version with monthly payment subscription! I said I don't want to pay monthly then you have to say good bye LR and PSE!

I am trying to move my lightroom 6 install from one laptop to another. I deactivated (signed out, etc.,) on the old machine - which now no longer has a license. When I try to activate on the new machine it says it can't due being "in use by the maximum allowed computers" which it isn't. So basically the license released failed.

Can someone help me activate on the new machine?

Contact Adobe Support. Tell them clearly and definitively that "I want to deactivate a LR 6 license". Do not use words like "I need help with Lightroom 6" because as soon as they hear that, they will tell you that LR 6 is not supported.

tried that. quite firmly. they refused to help - said all license reactivations were now picked up here...

Per my online chatting with Adobe customer support a while ago, I was told that you won't be able to re-activate the LR6 or any LR classic version because Adobe disabled them, no more support all of the classic version, in the mean time they refer you to buy the new Creative, that I don't want to pay for this monthly!

Hi. I use my perpetual licence version of LR6 on three Macs, always ensuring one of them is deactivated.  However, I couldn't access one of the Macs to deactivate LR6 when I had to activate it on another of my devices. This meant LR was activated on three Macs simultaneously, which Adobe seems to tolerate for a short while. Then LR on the 'third' device stopped working and told me I needed to sign in. I tried - forgetting two other devices were still activated - but kept getting the same message: "Serial Number Validation: please connect to the internet to validate your serial number". I WAS connected to the internet. It eventually dawned on me that I needed to deactivate the other device that I could access, so I did this, but the same problem recurred - after rebooting both computers I am still told to connect to the internet to validate my serial number. I gave up trying and signed back into the device I had recently deactivaed. BUT, while Adobe instantly reactivated LR6 on this device, it came with a message warning me that I now had LR activated on two OTHER devices and so would only be allowed 30 days access on this device. So, I have one device with LR active that I am unable to access, another that won't let me validate my serial number even though I am connected to the internet, and now a threat to terminate my usage of LR6 in 30 days on my last remaining access point. What on earth is going on here? And how do I resolve this nightmare?

I have purchased, long ago, Lightroom 6. I have version 6.14.0.10 installed now.

I have valid serial number that came with my purchase.

Serial number shows in my adobe products (accounts.adobe.com/products)

Adobe "Activated devices" is empty

I fire up Lightroom, it says "Activation Failed"

I go through "Offline Activation", use "request code" to get "response code"

Offline activation page responds:

"Activation limit reached for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6. This Serial Number XXXX-SOMENUMBER has already been activated on 2 machines. Please deactivate one of the other computers and try again."

It has only been activated on the one machine I'm facing the above problem on.

This started to happen about 2 weeks ago.

Prior to that, I had no problems for years.

What do I do to get it to run again?

Thanks.

There is no way for you to reset Activations. (online activation servers closed)

Only an Adobe Staff member can reset for you.

You must use the Chat support and ask only for "Activation reset", OR

Follow the advice in the correct anwer to this thread- Send a Private Message to @CMass

I have been around the houses with Adobe, who dont seem to care at all. I have made sure I followed all "deactivation" process when moving LR6 from old to new.
Everything, like App manager is up to date, Adobe have confirmed my Key is working and legit, its showing in my account. My account has 0 active devices.

So all that is left, is that Adobe are now blocking all activations for LR6 in a bif to force you into a £10 a month subscription. Which as an amature user who might use it 4 times a year makes it £30 per use. That is not value for money, espcially as I own a legit copy that I paid for and Adobe are blocking me from using.

My next step has been to contact Trading Standards, I have submited everything to them, inc. the chat logs and screen shots. Adobe might no longer support LR6, fine, but activly preventing the App Manager from allowing activation and blocking you access is not fine.

I will update here once I get more details from Trad. Std.

Hi!.  After turning on my computer today, and clicking on LR6 icon, I got a box stating that my browser is no longer supported, and requiring that I sign into Adobe, which I did.  All my browsers are up to date according to what is listed on the Adobe site (and they update automatically anyway), and LR6 was working perfectly last night.  I can't access LR6 at all.  Help,. please.  Thank you.

So originally, this was LR6 with a serial number or you had subscription? Do you have a subscription to any Adobe products? Of so, you need to sign in using the Creative Cloud app, not a web browser.

Otherwise you need to get that serial number and contact Adobe to activate it:

Yes, I purchased LR6 years ago, along with Photoshop CS5 (which IS working, by the way).  I don't have any Adobe subscriptions.  Adobe won't talk to me about LR6 because they don't support it any longer.  (tried already).
