its your GPU crashing-

Adobe should do someting about it but their latests built does not address the issue.

my computer can do 1-4 images and then crashes...

AI is taking your GPU over the max.

You are not alone

Hi, yes you're right it is your GPU, but it's not a case of the GPU being taken over the top, it is overheating because the thermal pad is no longer there doing its job. Why, because with age it has evaporated away due to the constant heat while operating. Add to this the dust build up and immediately AI Denoise begins to do its thing, it ramps up the heat and takes out your GPU which shuts down your system to protect itself.

You can fix this by taking it to a service agent (computer shop which offers serviciing) and having them replace the thermal pad and remove any build up of dust. This is about a 20 minute job. I wouldn't recommend doing this yourself as there are a lot of screws to remove and then replace, but it is relatively easy to do providing that you can get a replacement thermal pad.

You should notice increased performance and no futher shutdowns. Hope this helps.

YES!   After running denoise Lightroom will not launch Photoshop.

My guess, Denoise has a thread memory leak that causes some random issues.

Adobe is not to helpful sorting these issues, IMHO.

It freezes on me when I use Denoise in Lightroom.

Hello!

I have the same problem of a windows 10 computer shutting down with denoise in Lightroom, I tried different solutions, updating and changing gpu driver, cleaning and vacuuming the computer and disabling gpu with no luck. But I want to point out that I had the same problem at the beginning with super resolution that at one point was solved, I don't know how. Does this give any idea to anyone?

If Vaccuuming out the dust really makes a difference then adobe has a bigger problem - this issue is definitely code based.

Dirt detection code sure.😂

At the same time, several users found this heat reduction step stopped the crashing. So maybe give it a try?

Have you checked that the ventilation ports and fans on your computer are dust free?

Have you checked that your GPU driver is up to date?

Please, also share a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu as shown in attached screenshot.

I just disconnected my Mac Pro, and vacuumed all of the fans and internal components. I ran Denoise AI and this time it worked. My problem was absolutely dust on the fan intakes or exhaust. Problem solved.

I experienced EXACTLY the same problem the first time I tried to use Denoise AI. The Mac Pro fans started to roar about 1/3 of the way through processing the DNG and the Mac did a hard shut down. This has not happened to me in 30 years. Only other programs open were Photoshop, Apple Music, Mac Mail. I tried various combinations in Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor, including Auto, Custom and Turning Off the graphics processor but every time the fans began to roar and I stopped Denoise, not wanting to risk multiple hard shut downs.

Did you found any solution since April 2023 ?
I have the same graphic card and it's crashing excatly as yours !

Yes, the person you addressed your question to found a solution. It can be found on page 2 of this threrad. That is, vacuum the inside of the computer with particular emphasis on the fans. Doing so reduces the heat build up due to the high load that Denoise places on the GPU.

I have the same problem on a Windows 10 computer, every time I tried to do denoise, which normally said it will take around 5 minutes, the computer shut down with the fans doing lots of noise. I thougt it could be a heating problem on the cpu, so I cleaned everything and changed the thermal paste with no success. Checking with HWMonitor it doesn't show high temperature. I had exactly the same issue when Adobe introduced super resolution but only for a while, now it works smoothly. I am not sure if was a driver or a Lightroom upgrade that made the difference. I am attaching system info.

Mine also blew a powesupply running denoise.   I was trying to denoise a couple of pictures and bang it completely shut down instantly and nothing . Had to replace a power supply.   New power supply a little stronger also shuts down during a single denoise process, but at least it didn't kill it.  ADOBE needs to remove denoise immediately until it's fixed and doesn't destroy computers.  It's unacceptable, there are no warnings or cautions it just blows your supply...

You haven't mentioned the computer model/type, GPU model or duration (estimate or actual) time for Denoise. This information would likely help Adobe engineers better understand what's happening.
