Hey, @Jrgen Schtz. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Do you see any specific errors in the Map module in Lightroom? Has this started to happen since a recent update?

The Map module depends more on the Internet than the CPU. Please share a screenshot of what you see.

Please check if the issue you see here matches one of the known issues with the Map module in Lightroom Classic 14.x: https://adobe.ly/3QRPjPL

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Hey @Björn383063031e2b

Thank you for sharing which version of Lightroom Classic you're using! If you try zooming in or out of the map, does it suddenly start working? If not, try resizing the app and see if that helps.

There have been a number of reports that the Map module has stopped working in LR 14.2, with blank maps, several in German and one in French.

I've observed that when LR is running in German, and you restart LR while in the Map module, you're much more likely to trip over the years-old-bug where the Map module fails to display correctly. I see these symptoms in German but not in English.

But when I restart LR from the Library module and then go to the Map module, in German and English I always get a functioning Map module.

In my LR 14.2 / Mac OS 15.2, when I restart LR in German, I always see this error initially:

"Unable to connect to Adobe servers. The map module is not working."

After 2 - 30 seconds, sometimes the correct map is displayed anyway. But sometimes the main panel is blank:

And sometimes it shows this error:

"Oops! An error has occurred. Google Maps was not loaded correctly on this page. You can find technical details in the JavaScript console"

Hello. With the downgrade to LR 14.1, the map module works again.

Hi,

I've tried some of the solutions in the thread but nothing works. The Map module is still not available in my version (14.2). My PC runs on Windows 10

When I start LrC in the map module, this appears shortly and disappears after a few seconds. No connection to adobe servers

When this happens to me, I switch to the Grid mode; then I shut down LrC. Then I reopen LrC and the map works properly.

Hi,

@Björn383063031e2b: "the map module is not accessible in the current version 14.2. No error is displayed, just a gray screen."

As you can see in this thread, many users running LR in German are experiencing similar symptoms. There are two known workarounds to this bug:

1. Switch to the Library module, exit LR, restart LR, switch to the Map module, and wait for at least two minutes. This may or may not work for you.

2. Roll back to LR 14.1.1

I was able to demonstrate that grey maps occur when  there is high network latency between your computer and Google's servers (e.g. with a satellite link).  A workaround that works for me:

After the grey map appears, wait for at least 90 seconds (you may seen the grey background change slightly). Then click the center of the zoom slider at the bottom of the map module (don't try to use the + button):-
