This post applies to Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic & the Lightroom Ecosystem products.

The Lightroom team is sharing an early look for AI-powered Lens Blur–giving you the ability to apply optical blur on any image regardless of how it was taken. Lens Blur is now available to try on all Lightroom surfaces.

How does Lens Blur work?
  • Lens blur applies a depth-based blur effect, similar to what can be achieved with real-world optical lenses, by using AI-generated or device-captured depth data (when available).
  • Lens blur will automatically prioritize focus for the detected subject, but you can also interactively adjust the focus distance. Precise focus range tuning is also available (currently desktop only: Lightroom Desktop, Lightroom Classic, and Camera Raw).
  • You can also further customize the Bokeh shapes, highlight Boost (desktop only), and make depth map refinements (desktop only).

Will my Lens Blur adjustments on one surface be synced to other surfaces? I.e. mobile to web to desktop, and vice versa?
  • Yes, all edits will sync. To revert settings, you can go back to previous versions or history steps, or un-apply Lens Blur settings.

Can I add Lens Blur settings to my presets?
  • No, presets and copy + paste workflows are not currently enabled for Lens Blur during Early Access.

For more information, please check out Lens Blur.

Please give it a try and share feedback in this thread as we continually improve this feature.

Très bon produit, à mettre en place absolument. Peut être indiquer l'ouverture.

Love the new blur option in Camera Raw, basically don't have to leave Camera Raw anymore except for layering images, keep it coming.

Der Weichzeichnungsfilter würde für mich am Besten Sinn machen inVerbindung mit den Filtern zum Beispiel Himmel oder Objekt, Hintergrund

Hi - Thank you for this format.  I'm wondering if we can erase the lens blur from areas that we do not want it in.  For ex, I just used it on a Great Blue Heron photo where the bird is standing in front of a background that is close to him.  I applied the lens blur which covered the background pretty nicely, but it, also, blurred out the heron's legs.   I can't use the blue feature because of this.

Thank you.  JN

Have you tried adjusting the amount? Especially if you have used a large
aperture. I'm sure they will be improving this in the future.

WOW, did a fantastic job on a portrait at a restaurant. Love the way you can modify the blur.  Nice job.

In my opinion, lens blur is not pleasing as it needs to be, although it probably will be soon. It is, however, effective. I tried the bokeh, but nothing happened that I could see.

I've been using / playing with this regularly for a few months. IMO, this is the single best add to PS/ACR since Content Aware Fill was added back in pre-CC days. I'm able to control the blur/sharp much better with this tool than the similar Neural filter.

I ABSOULTELY LOVE THIS NEW LENS BLUR FEATURE - not just because it's a fantasic much needed tool BUT ALSO because it works very well!!  I don'gt get impressed easily so posting this is a BIG deal!!  There is an excellent tutorial on Adobe.

Bravo Adobe - this is a game-changer for repairs to photos where we grabbed a shot without setting the right focal length.  Amazing.  The "visualize depth" feature is particularly helpful.  Thank you!
