P: Reporting issues on unsupported Beta (OS) versions

Adobe does not provide support for yet-to-be-released versions of Operating Systems.

Suspected bugs found in Adobe software while running beta versions of any operating system should be filed with the operating system’s manufacturer. This includes UI issues, unexpected behavior, or application failures.

 

Application Crashes should be reported using the Adobe Crash Reporter dialog, which should appear anytime an application crash occurs. Be sure to complete the crash report information - including your Adobe ID (email address) and submit it.

 

If your crash is an OS-level crash, you may see a dialog from your OS’s manufacturer instead. Other behaviors often misinterpreted as crashes, such as ‘freezing,’ ‘hanging,’ unusual hardware resource consumption, etc., should be reported through the OS manufacturer’s Beta issues reporting channels.

    Whenever I click on the mask icon it crashes. It's not related to the AI masks. If someone could help quickly I have photos I need to deliver to a client.

    If it crashes, and the macOS crash reporter appears, then you should submit that to Apple. Apple should forward those crash reports to the developer, which in this case would be Adobe.

     

    If the Adobe crash reporter appears, then filling that out is more direct.

     

    I’m only mentioning that because those are the recommended and most effective ways to report these kinds of bugs. And the other side that benefits you is, reporting crashes in a macOS beta directly through the Apple/Adobe crash reporter dialog boxes will reach the engineers more effectively than reporting in this user help forum, which is really only for users helping each other with non-beta versions.

    That kind of help can never be guaranteed for beta software. Note that the Apple Beta Software Program Agreement that you agreed to before downloading the software specifically says (bold formatting is mine):

    7. Precautions for the use of Pre-Release Software.…In addition, the Pre-Release Software may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data…The Pre-Release Software is not intended for use, and should not be used, in production or business-critical systems.

     

    That’s usually in the Agreement no matter what company’s software you’re beta testing. (Edit: I also noticed they put that “don’t install this software on a production system” warning in the large type at the top of that page. They really mean it!)

     

    Regardless of what the software companies say, professional studios themselves will typically not use beta software for paying work. If a job must go out right now, they will do it on reliable non-beta software. Pros will sometimes make an exception when beta software is very close to a final release, but that does not apply to macOS 15 Sequoia because the early public betas were only released this month following the initial announcement…many pro studios would consider that far too immature and early of a release to commit paying jobs to. Too risky. Finish the job in macOS 14.
