With the new update, when using  Select Sky or Select Subject, i get an unexpected error message saying something went wrong and the request could not be completed.

Correct answer simonsaith

Please follow https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html?wapkw... for your Intel GPU. The version of the Intel GPU driver that you have is pretty old.

Hi John,

To use or not to use the GPU for ML inference for a particular GPU/driver version is not within Lr's control. The platform OS will do the check at runtime. So turn off the Lr graphics processor option in the Lightroom user preference would not have any effect either way.

This is incorrect -- it would be trivial to have LR obey the setting of Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor when executing the models for Select Subject/Sky.  LR uses CoreML on Mac and ONNX on Windows to execute ML models, and both allow the client (LR) to specify whether to use the CPU or not. See here for details:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-select-sky-and-select-subject-should-obey-preferences-gt-performance-gt-use-graphics-processor/idc-p/13265720#M16520

Two users in another thread reported the error "Something went wrong. Request could not be Completed."  They both had Intel HD chipsets with very old drivers (2016 and 2017), and one found this in an unspecified log:

GPU Init Status (part 2): I3_GPU3
GPU3 Hard Status Result (part 2): success
GPU3 Soft Status Result (part 2): fail_insufficient_driver
*** Error: ML prediction failure status code 3 ***

Neither has reported back yet on whether disabling the GPU or updating the driver helped.

(Does setting Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off disable LR's use of the GPU when applying ML models?)

In general, please follow https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html#solution-4 to update your system with the latest GPU drivers from the respective vendor.

Hi, I followed the link posted and followed the instructions given, it still does the same thing. sometimes when first turning on Lr it works once, maybe twice, after that I get the error message. What else could I possibly do to fix this problem, as it is annoying?

Please do the menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the contents here.

It would be helpful to show Lightroom>Help>System Info... and share the type of GPU card and driver version that you have.

In this case, it looks your system has some Intel GPU card. If that is the case, please try to update to the latest Intel GPU driver  from this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html?wapkw=i7-11800h. The latest version is around v30.0.100.9864.

If you could please, quit Lightroom Classic and go to:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Logs

Collect the files there, zip them and let me know when they are ready and I will send instructions to send them.

Hello, after I updated the Lightroom Update to version 11.0, the new "Select Sky / Subject" application does not work. I get the error message: "An error has occurred. An unexpected error has occurred, your request could not be completed will." It is a shame that such a new function is not adequately tested before it goes live.

I have the same problem.  Could you sort it out?

@Hengga2922219383s2"DirectX: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (31.0.14043.1000)"

It looks like the most recent AMD driver is 23.4.1 (31.0.14043.7000), while you have 23.3.2 installed.  Try updating the driver by going directly to amd.com.
