Hello, dear Community,
Since I updated my LRC to the latest version (2023), I've found myself unable to use photo STACKING functions, such as "group into stack", "collapse or expand stack" and so forth. I have already tried deinstall and reinstall LRC, but unfortunately the error persists.
If anyone could explain to me how to REactivate the STACKING functions, I'd be very grateful. I miss this a lot... it messes up my workflow quite a bit.
Thank you very much

If you've currently selected a smart collection or one of the special collections such as Quick Collection or All Synced Photographs, you can't stack photos. If that doesn't help, please post a full-resolution screenshot of the entire LR window, which will likely indicate what's going on.

Hello John,
Thanks for your quick reply. Please find attached a full screen shot.
The saving of images into smart collections seems to be happenning by defaut once I give pictures a 1 to 5 star rating, if I mark them with colored flags or otherwise categorise them within my catalogue.
The images I marked green are Photoshop edits (tiff files) I would like to group into a stack with their respective original RAW files. This used to happen automatically in LRC for years and that function was logical and great. Is that just a Lightroom bug or an intended change ?
I've never had that stacking problem before ..... it's very annoying.
How can I categorize images then without having an image stacking problem then ?
Thanks for your time and availability !

Images are not 'saved' in a smart collection. A smart collection is a list based upon search criteria, so the five star smart collection shows all images with five stars. If you mark an image with five stars, it will automatically be added to this smart collection because it fits the criteria. If you then change it to four stars, it will automatically be removed again because it no longer fits the criteria. Like Johm said, you cannot create stacks in a smart collection.
