I have been using Lightroom Classic with Google Drive without any problem for many years, on a Macbook Pro (2013 edition) running OS Mojave. Recently I changed over to a new Macbook Air (M2, 1TB SSD, OS Sonoma) and I also upgraded LRC to version 13.0.1. When setting up the new computer I did a System Restore from a Time Machine backup. I have been having problems since then. Specifically, LRC does not seem to have properly synced with Google Drive, i.e., a lot of the photos do not seem to have been imported into Lightroom. If I try to import the missing photos, for most of the folders the Import button is grayed out. I cannot understand why it's not grayed out for other folders.
If I look through Finder, some photos in Google Drive have a cloud icon with a down arrow against them, which I take it means that they are on the cloud but have not been downloaded (I can't figure out why). However, the photos apparently missing in Lightroom include files which have no cloud icon and can easily be viewed in Finder.
Just to give a little more background, when I initially installed Google Drive I moved each folder from the local hard drive to Google Drive through Lightroom. Everything was working fine till I set up the system on the new computer.
I have been struggling with this problem for many days. Hope someone can help me resolve it.
Thank you in advance
Javed

Have you first confirmed that Google Drive is working OK itself? For example, without opening Lightroom Classic, can you view and work with images in Google Drive, for example, can you open an image in Apple Preview?
If that isn’t working, then troubleshooting Google Drive itself is necessary first, because if there is a problem there and it can be resolved, and then the problem with Lightroom Classic might also be resolved. For example, is Google Drive fully updated? (Looks like the Mac client is on version 83.) Also…

Have you tried manually forcing a download? In the Finder, when a file within (Google) My Drive is selected, you would click the (…) menu at the top of a Finder window (which often contains extra commands specific to cloud sync services such as Dropbox and Google Drive), and choose Download Now. You can also choose Download Now by right-clicking a file in a My Drive folder.
If that fails, Google Drive is not working properly and you will need to troubleshoot that with Google. Ensure that Google does have a version of Google Drive that has been updated for full compatibility with macOS 14 Sonoma, otherwise it might be an incompatibility that needs a Google Drive update.

Google Drive, as in the cloud.
Do you (did you) keep your catalog on a hard drive connected to the computer, or on the cloud?
Do you keep your photos on a hard drive or the cloud?
And, do you still have the old computer?
