RAW images in 3:2 cannot be accepted by Lightroom 5.7.1

I recently bought a new Canon PowerShot G5X (in replacement of my broken Canon G11) and to my surprise it does not accept the RAW images.

Looking in some forums I saw a discussion around the format being 3:2 because of its sensor compared to my previous camera at 4:3.

Is there any way to make the RAW images be accepted perhaps in a different format? beside the option of buying an upgraded version of Lr (v 6 or higher) ?

Any suggestions anyone could give would be helpful. Thank you in advance,

Rudy

To work with RAW files from the Canon G5X you need Lightroom 6.3 or higher.

    Cameras supported by Camera Raw

If you wouldn't buy an update the only way is to convert the RAW files with the Adobe DNG Converter in dng files. With this files you coan also work in older versions of Lightroom.

Axel thank you very much for your prompt answer and solution.

I will go for the DNG option for the time being until I decide for an enhanced Lr version.

    Many thanks again.

BTW, it has nothing to do with the shape of the image and everything to do with the age of version 5.7.1  in relation to the age of the camera.
