Right-click and Edit tasks are slow

Since maybe 2 versions ago Lightroom Classic has been so slow that it is basically unusable. The interface responds normally for the most part, with left clicking and moving between modules working as expected, but right clicking or performing any editing task takes forever. When right clicking a photo there is typically a delay of around 5 minutes simply for the context menu to appear. What could be causing this?

    Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

     

    Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

    Hi Alex, piggybacking this thread because I can't find any up-to-date fixes elsewhere. 

     

    Same story - Lightroom 14.2 is basically unusable. That's not hyperbole, it literally takes three or four minutes to show a preview when cycling between images. Photomerge is - genuinely - 10x slower than it was a couple of versions ago. My machine is very high spec - would really love to understand what is happening, becuase as it stands, Adobe have completely broken something that I have used daily for about 8 years.     It may have nothing to do with LR (or it may). Some diagnostic steps:

     

    1. Try moving the catalog folder out from under the Onedrive folder somewhere else on the C drive. There have been lots of reports of Onedrive, Dropbox, and other cloud-sync services interfering with LR.

     

    2. If that doesn't help, then create a new test catalog not under the Onedrive folder, and put copies of a hundred photos somewhere not under the Onedrive folder, and import them into the test catalog. If that performs well, that's pointing towards a solution.

     

    3. Disable all anti-malware/anti-virus utilities. There are reports here of them being too aggressive with LR. If that helps, add exclusions for the catalog and pictures folders.
