Question

Thumbnails not showing on Import from Canon R5

This was working fine until yesterday. Running LR Classic 11.3.1 an a MPB using MAC OS 12.4

When Importing directly from the camera the image thumbnails are now no longer showing. Doesn't matter if the images are Raw, CRaw, JPG or HEIF.

If I put the card into a card reader the image thumbnails display immeditely and without problems.

While the card reader route is fine for large downloads, it is an unecessary and frustrating step for a few images. Also, I tend not to carry the reader with me as I sould be able to download directly from the camera.

Have increased cache sizes, purged the preview cache etc. GPU support is off.

Done power cycle restart.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

As a first troubleshooting step, something changed in Mac OS 12.3.1, and many people are finding they need to grant LR Full Disk Access. See:

Let us know whether that fixes the problem.

Checked this and full disk access wasn't granted. Have set it but the problem persists. Thanks for the idea.

There have been a couple other reports of problems importing via a USB cable attached to the camera:

No solutions have been posted yet.  The straightforward workaround is to use a card reader, though I understand that's less convenient for you in some circumstances. Over the years, it seems that importing via USB cable has become a second-class citizen, with a number of problems.
