How change default file type in Lightroom plugin

Using Helicon Focus.  The Lightroom plugin defaults Image format to "tiff".  It can be CHANGED to "dng", but every time LR gets started it goes BACK to "tiff".

Question was asked at Helicon - HOW change default Image Format in the Lightroom plugin?  Answer was "Not our problem.  That's a LIGHTROOM thing.  It's in control of the image formats."

So, they kicked it over the silo wall to here.

So, how do I change the default image format in a plugin?  Creating a different External Editor didn't work.  I couldn't find any way during the External Editor definition process to select EITHER "dng" or "original" for the image format (both of which are available in the plugin BUT AREN'T PERSISTENT)....

Create an alternate Export Preset. Click on the Helicon Focus preset and change the output format to DNG, as you have been doing. Go to the bottom of the presets panel and click on Add. Give the new preset a name like H.F.2 or whatever. In the future use this preset instead of the original.

Don't use the "Edit in ..." function, use the Export page as shown here:

Unless I'm doing it wrong, that doesn't solve the problem...  Yes, I can export MANY time DURING a Lightroom session, and once I've set it to "dng" it'll stay that way.

BUT IT'S NOT PERSISTENT.  Close Lightroom and restart it and the next time you click on Export and Helicon Focus it goes back to "tiff".  So, how do I change the DEFAULT image format from tiff to dng?
