P: 3rd party monochrome profiles automatically reset when editing

Platform: iPad Pro, latest OS

Lightroom version: 9.5

Issue:  when I apply a monochrome profile (specifically any of the cobalt images Monochrom M10 profiles, but I suspect any similar) the profile applies, but as of this app release any attempt to adjust the RAW (exposure, highlights, etc) reverts the image to color, and automatically sets the profile to Adobe Color. Prior to this update, they functioned normally as a base profile, and still work fine on desktop (MacOS, latest Lightroom CC version)

specific steps:

1. Take any color raw you have

2. Apply profile; the M10 profiles in question are XMP profiles with an RGB LUT that's applied after all image controls (per Cobalt; I checked with them first). Note the image goes monochrome as expected.
3. Make any adjustment in the develop panel, such as exposure, shadows, contrast, etc

result:  image resets to color, profile UI briefly freezes, automatically sets Adobe Color after few seconds. Profile can be reapplied, but issue repeats.

On desktop, this does not reproduce; everything is functioning normally, and these profiles also functioned normally prior to this app version.

Greetings all,

Adobe Lightroom Mobile product updates are released.  The November release (10.0.2) updates contain a fix for this issue.

Updates will be available via the Apple App Store. Note that it can take several days for some customers to receive a notification of an available update via their App Store.

Thank you for being so patient.

480psampleRAW.gifScreen cap/gif of what it looks like in action.  Sequence is "select RAW, apply profile, adjust contrast".  Opening/closing the profile menu without making changes shows the reset to Adobe Color.

Update:  I've contacted the profile creators, and also tested against all other (web, Mac desktop) LR clients I have access to; the issue appears to be isolated to the iPad client, and only to the latest version; the profile creators (Cobalt Images) also feel this is a bug in the Lightroom iPad client.  All other versions don't exhibit the same incorrect behavior as regards reversion of the image to color.

The Lightroom iOS team would like to investigate this further. Are you able to share the offending profile with us?

Absolutely; it's any/all of the monochrome profiles; this is one of the XMPs out of the pack. (There's a number to emulate red/yellow/etc lens filters.)

Oh, one note is that as a prereq, they require a base pack of DCPs for your particular camera; there's one in particular that's marked as a base/starting point for the emulation XMPs, and I'm happy to share that as well if needed.  (It won't let me upload it.)

The engineers have requested the DCP. Can you upload it to a shared service (Dropbox or similar) and then DM me the link?

One more item, can you supply the image original from your test GIF?

Of course, here's an arbitrary (same bird, about 10s apart) RAW and the exact RAW (I think) from the gif.  The export came w/ XMPs; want those too?

Hey, followup; just tested in 9.5.1 iPad and the issue still appears to reproduce.  (Obviously I have no idea if that's expected, but I'm a fan of providing as much info as I can just in case.)

Were you guys able to reproduce this with the sample images/profiles I sent?

I'm seeing the same issue. It's been here for months. Very frustrating - any updates from the Adobe team?

I am having exactly the same issue with monochrome profiles created by a different 3rd party.  The issue occurs only on iPad/iPhone versions of Lightroom. The same xmp profiles work fine on the desktop version.

Thanks!  Can confirm it no longer resets the profile as described, much appreciated.

I do notice the "B&W Mix" controls are unavailable in this scenario, and only "Color Grading" is active when one of these profiles is selected; intentional/known?  Comparing to "Adobe Monochrome", that one has both controls active.
