P: (MS App Store Version) Message: Some photos were not added. Unable to copy file.

Community Beginner ,
Jul 13, 2021 Jul 13, 2021

Hi, I've recently subscribed to Lightroom and am being met with this error message upon trying to import any images.

'Some photos were not added. Unable to copy file.'

I've seen 2 other posts on here of the same issue but the solutions posted there didn't work.

I'm using windows 10, imported the files from my SD card to my hard drive. I am then trying to import to lightroom from my hard drive.

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

Updates for Adobe Photography products began rolling out Tuesday night, August 16th,  The updates contain a fix for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for your patience.

If you are seeing this error and had downloaded Lightroom from the Microsoft Store, please try installing Lightroom from https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html instead.

For others, I wonder if you could be running low on disk space? We should be giving proper messaging if so, but that's the current theory I'm trying to run down. You can tell Lightroom to take up less space locally by going to Edit > Preferences > Local Storage and reducing the "photo cache size"LocalStorage.png

I'd appreciat

Has a Windows fix for this been found yet? I have been having this exact same problem since the most recent update. It's ruining my Lightroom experience 😞 I wish some support administrator would help us

I've uninstalled the Microsoft Store version and installed the version on Adobe website (installed via the Creative Cloud app). It works properly.

I have not kept track of any updates to the Store version but I guess, I'll settle for now. The reason I used the Store version was that i don't need to install the creative cloud app, but perhaps, it still has advantages in terms of keeping LR up to date.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about the import issue experienced. Which version of Lightroom are you currently using? Is this happening with a particular file format or any type of file? Can you please try opening any other file from your hard drive and check if that opens? What type of import are you doing? Did you do any troubleshooting steps so far?

We're here to help, just need some more info.

Regards,

Ranjisha

Windows Customers who have downloaded this app via the Microsoft App Store and are experiencing this error, will find relief by uninstalling the Microsoft App Store version of the software and installing it via the Adobe Creative Cloud app available here: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/desktop-app.html

If you are willing to send us a diagnostic log first to help us troubleshoot this, please speak up here. We'll reach out to you privately with details.

Help!

"some photos were not added"

"these files could not be downloaded"

it lets me add a few raw files and then pops up with this message! I let it sync and then it lets me add a few more.

The most annoying thing ever. Has this been solved?

Thanks all

I have been getting a bug recently when I want to import photos. It will go through the whole import proccess then send back an error for every single one. I've been using the same camera, same file format and it has always worked. This is the second time LR has refused to import any photos regardess of file type, restarting, etc. I fixed it last time by completely uninstalling lightroom and reinstalling but i don't want to have to do that every week. Screen Shot 2022-02-08 at 3.55.41 PM.png

I have the same issue as Lilly; I get messages saying various files can't be uploaded, or sometmes just "files 1-120 were not uploaded"; or files with the same names weren't uploaded. Sooner or later file numbers repeat, especially when you're uploading from several cameras.

Since I'm not sure exactly which 120 of 1400 files weren't uploaded (and that was one camera, one day), I'm not sure how to figure out which I have and which I don't.... The two "official" answers provide no information that is applicable. When downloading, I only work through CC, on my desktop.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Lightroom. Would you mind sharing the exact version of Lightroom you're using along with the version of Windows you're working on? Are the images/files saved on an external drive or SD card from where you're importing them?

Try launching Lightroom as administrator by right clicking on the app icon & selecting the option to Run as administrator to check if it makes a difference.

Regards,

Nikunj

Hi ,

my Lightroom is failing to import photos, I try to add 450 photos of Sony Alpha 7 iii RAW format (.arw) and LR is failing and adding randon 5 photos to the bib. Quite disappointing. I will attach all information needed . I am not able to upload a ARW photo of mine, I will add the error message in red to this post. Maybe this helps us to solve my problem.

Problem is reoccuring every time i try to add photos. The photos are laying on a HDD, moving them to SSD is not solving my issure here.

Please help me solve me issue or grant the opportunity to cancel my abo for free. Thank you.

Buongiorno.

From your screenshot, and from the terminology "Add Photos" it appears you are using Lightroom (aka Lightroom Desktop, or Lr Cloudy) not Lightroom Classic. Note the icon Lr as opposed to LrC.

So, it appears you have posted into the wrong community. Try

Unfortunately, the problem persists, and it has become very annoying. I have the current version from the Microsoft Store, pay via the Microsoft Store and manage to import my pictures only irregularly for months.

Plattform: Windows 11

Version: Lightroom CC 5.4 via Microsoft Store

Adobe Chat Support recommended earlier that I install Lightroom CC via Creative Cloud and that I take out a second subscription there since it is a different subscription.

Please don't misunderstand, but that can't be the solution, that I pay twice for your mistake in a professional software.

Kind regards,

Christoph
