Export JPG: File Size Web vs Mobile App

Dear Community,

when exporting to jpg using the web client, the file size seems to be much smaller than when exporting via the mobile app (I am using the Android version). Is there an option in the web front end similar to the mobile app to set the export quality settings? I did not find it.

BTW: for me as a simple user it is hard to decide which version to use. The web front end has many advantages compared to the mobile app (mainly in usability - I am using LR app on a chromebook) while the mobile app has many features the web version does not have (for now?) like repair operations, masking, ...

Is the plan that the web version will - at some reasonable time - make the mobile app obsolete?

No, there is no option in LrWeb to set export quality settings. IIRC, it's set to around 70% so if you are using a higher quality setting in LrMobile then you will see a difference in file size.

I seriously doubt that LrWeb would ever replace LrMobile. I don't view them as competitors, instead I see them as complementing each other. LrWeb is the best app in the whole cloud ecosystem for handling the album sharing options, so I tend to use it almost exclusively for that. LrMobile and LrDesktop have more extensive editing tools, and of course can be used offline, so I will use them for editing and general viewing and organising. Another major advantage of the LrWeb app is that it is a direct view into the cloud-based master catalog, so is the go-to starting point when syncing issues occur.

Hi,
thanks for the quick response.

Just recognizing that the web frontend is evolving a lot having much new
features that it didn't have half a year ago. But sure: the combination of
both give the best options.

Thanks a lot
