Fixed: Missing Images and Presets after Lightroom Mobile 5.4 update

So, Lightroom automatically updated and I lost everything I had until this morning when I last used it.

 

I hope theres a way to recover my work back.

Hi all,

 

We are aware of an issue related to the latest release of Lightroom mobile (5.4.0) on iOS and iPadOS. The team is investigating and we’ll share an update with affected customers as soon as possible. If you have not installed the 5.4 update, please do not update. If you have installed the 5.4 update, do not launch the app. Also do not delete and try to re-install the app. We are rolling out a 5.4.1 update to resolve this issue.

Hi All,

We are aware that some customers who updated to Lightroom 5.4.0 on iPhone and iPad may be missing photos and presets that were not synced to the Lightroom cloud. 

A new version of Lightroom mobile (5.4.1) for iOS and iPadOS has now been released that prevents this issue from affecting additional customers. 

Installing version 5.4.1 will not restore missing photos or presets for customers affected by the problem introduced in 5.4.0.

I just recently noticed that all the photos I have edited on my iPad since christmas are now gone. I can't locate any of the about 1000+ photos that i have edited since then.

This morning I updated my iPhone Lightroom app only to reopen it to find ALL my presets (both purchased and self made) and all my photos and albums gone....! 

 

They are also missing from the CC version of Lightroom on my iMac which has NOT been updated...!!

 

Is this a 'cloud' issue ? If so you need to sort this out ASAP for the thousands of users both professional and amateur, who will have lost hours of work and potential clients in what is already a challenging time. 

 

This is not good enough, and hugely disappointing from a company that once held the gold standard for professional editing tools.

So what are we expected to do? I reached out to customer care and they told me to post on here. There is no help being offered, just a blanket apology?? Many of us have lost presets that took lots of time to develop and photography work that generates our income. I think there needs to be a premium refund at the minimum for 2020 paying subscribers. This is beyond disappointing and frustrating.

No sis, they can't fix it. And I got email from Adobe and you can see the pic below.

 

In my opinion I think what we can do is just accept that we can't get everything back as before...

This is really a huge mistake of Adobe. What's wrong with 2020........

My LR app (used in Iphone) is not working properly. I lost my presets and some photos. It opens preset folders by a sudden. Similar problem happening in the desktop verion of LR.

Although most of the people affected were users of the non-subscription free version, there were also some subscription users affected. Those were typically users who had content on their devices which for various reasons had not yet been synced to the cloud. That content was lost when the 5.4 update was done, and couldn't be recovered as it was not in the cloud at the time of the failure, unless it was in a separate backup (e.g. iCloud/iTunes backup).

There is a 5.4.1 update that fixes the problem, but the update itself does not restore the images and settings. It only solves the problem for people who had not updated yet. To restore the photos you need to have a way to restore your phone from a backup, like an iPhone from an iCloud backup. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

What adobe said in that email is right, if you guys have a backup from your iphone on the Apple Cloud, and you have everything syncing there, maybe you can try to restore a version previous from the day of your Lightroom update and save everything from that point. I just excluded that option because I don't have backups on Apple (another montlhy expense) but since there's so many people here with this problem, thought it could be useful to anyone as a Light in the end of the Room. Not sure if that works but I would try that if I had backups 🙂
