P: Crashes after a couple of seconds at launch

I'm using a Mac computer at work that is running macOS Ventura version 13.3. The processor is 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, and graphics is Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB. My lightroom app is downloaded to the most updated version (6.2) and every time I try to open the app it shows the splash screen and then crashes immediately after it loads through the splash screen. But I don't get a pop-up of crash report or anything. However, I do know that on my phone, I've been getting a message on the cloud icon of lightroom saying I have used 81.14GB of 100GB cloud storage and that I should start considering deleting unneeded photos. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it crashing on my Mac because it works perfectly fine still on my iPhone and my personal Windows laptop. Help would be appreciated.

Found the issue was a conflict between named/shared licensing on our computers. We were seeing this crashing problem on our computer lab macs that use shared licensing so that students can use Adobe programs during class, however Adobe Lightroom CC apparently doesn't play well with shared licensing and requires named licensing to work. If you have both installed on the same client, it will cause Lightroom CC to crash.

We've had Lightroom CC installed on our shared license macs for a while and the crashing wasn't occuring so I'm not sure what changed recently to cause that. But the solution is basically to stop using the program if the computer is on shared licensing.

You can see if this issue is what's causing your problem by deleting the folder /Library/Application Support/Adobe/OperatingConfigs which will reset the licensing on the computer.

Bonjour,

Lightroom 6.2 (cloud, not classic) crashes immediately. First noted problem 3/24/23- have not been able to use Lr since.

I have updated all Adobe apps and iOS (Ventura 13.3.1) and have uninstalled and reinstalled all CC apps.

This is also an issue for my students who are using Mac Minis on Big Sur and Dells running Windows.

Mobile and web still works.

Please advise.

Hi @KatieBlumes

Thanks for reaching out. I'll help you troubleshoot this. Has it started to happen recently, or is it the first time you have launched Lightroom on this machine?

Ensure Lightroom has the required permissions & access on the macOS: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-give-full-disk-access...

Before further troubleshooting, we must ensure you have all the data backed up locally or on the cloud.

You can log on to Lightroom Web (https://lightroom.adobe.com) to check and confirm everything is synced.

  • Launch Lightroom. If the issue exists, move the Lightroom Library file in the Pictures folder to another folder to make Lightroom forget that it exists and generate a new local database.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Ranjisha

Greetings, I am sorry to hear about your issue.

We'd like to collect the lrcc_console.log file from your machine, if possible.
The file can be found at application support>Adobe>Lightroom CC>

Thanks!

Hi!

I have been experiencing the same problem. Can you help me as well? Where can I send the log file?

Thank you!

Please help! Lightroom 6.2. is crashing right after after startup and showing an empty window for 1 second. I think I did everything. It is on two different comps, one m1with 13.3.1, one intel with 13.2.1. Both show the same symptoms.

- first i logged out and back in again

- I emptied all caches

- I did a clean install of lightroom CC (after deleting and restarts inbetwenn)

- i deleted the local database (at least i hope i did)

Now i'm out of ideas and desperately searching for help!

Thank you!

Hello,

I can't use Lightroom on my Laptop anymore, because it closes the program after 1 second again.

I used it for a few month but now it doesn't wor anymore. I have a Macbook Air M2 with the newest Update and already tried uninstalling and Installing the program again. Does someone have an idea what I can do?

I would recommend a clean reinstall and a preference file reset:

  • Clean Lightroom Install Procedure
  • Close Lightroom
  • Restart the computer
  • Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom
  • Restart the computer
  • Install Lightroom via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
  • Restart the computer
  • Launch Lightroom
  • Wait 5 minutes

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop it can change the location of your local storage. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

I forgot to mention that I've already tried updating my MacOS (it was still crashing on an older version, and still crashes on this most updated version) and uninstalling and re-installing Lightroom.
