Lightroom Mobile Issue Importing Raw Images To Device

In the past, I have been able to connect my Canon R6 and or connect a card reader directly to my phone or iPad Pro and hit the add images Button. It would then access the card or camera and show me all the thumbnails as a preview that I can select to import. For the past month or so all of the images are great out, so I cannot see the preview. I can select them, but I cannot see them.when I connect my device or card reader to my laptop, there is no problem. My workflow includes on the go editing and it's very convenient to be able to do this on my phone and or iPad Pro.

I have since having this issue deleted like remote and reinstalled and I have gotten a new phone which has reinstalled. I also have the codec from normal raw to Craw just to see if there was a difference and there is not.

Thank you for the additional details about your camera and iOS devices, and confirming native apps work OK.  This will help us understand how to reproduce this in-house so we can have a developer debug the problem.

Hey Charlie

Thank you so much for all the help. I finally figured out what the issue was and it was an in camera setting. On my Canon R6 ii I needed to go to Wrench/Set-up menu and go to page 5. At the bottom there is an option for "Choose USB connection app" from there it's either choose "Photo Import/Remote Control, Video Calls/Streaming or Canon app(s) for iPhone. I simply needed to select Photo Import/Remote Control.

Wrench > Menu 5 > Choose USB connection app > Photo Import/Remote Control

thanks again

I am having this issue too. I was at one time able to connect my canon r6 ii and import directly into Lightroom mobile on my IPad Pro via my thunderbolt 3 cable but now my camera is not recognised by Lightroom when I hit the import from connected camera. It's driving me nuts!

Hello @NeilKBarry

Lightroom app code for this functionality has not changed recently, but perhaps iOS or camera firmware updates have changed things.

Can you respond to the following questions?
- what specific iPad Pro model are you using, and what iOS version does that device have?
- what camera firmware version are you on?

- is the native Photos.app or Files.app able to access your camera's images when connect the same way? (generally, if these native iOS apps can browse your device, then so too should LR iOS)

- in iOS Settings > Lightroom, does the app have "Full Access"

- in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders, is Lightroom enabled?

- does a simple restart of the iPad help?  Sometimes, oldest tricks still help.

I have been having this problem for months. The canon camera connects has no issues reading my camera neither does the files app on my iPad or iPhone it's just Lightroom. I am running iOS 18.2.1 on an m2 iPad Pro and my canon r6 ii is running  v1.5.0.. I am running Lightroom v10.1.1 and I am capturing using  cr3 files in camera. It's incredibly frustrating as 6-8 months ago I didn't have this problem at all

I've been having the exact same issue and has been driving me crazy trying to find a solution. Any update?

Hello @nunez222

TL;DR Without paid service, Lighroom Mobile cannot import or edit Raw images.

It seems that you have an educational plan provided by a school.  Lightroom Mobile is not always provided even if you are getting Lightroom desktop app/service provided.  You will need to confirm with your school plan administrator if you actually are entitled to Lightroom Mobile Premium service.

The free version of Lighroom Mobile cannot import or edit Raw images.

I upgraded to Lightroom mobile premium and it is still giving me the same issue. "Oops something went wrong please try again"

Standard raw images from your device should be supported.  Are you possibly capturing compressed raw images?  I have seen various reports on various camera makes/models where compressed raw does not show.  Still, if you proceed to import, I think Adobe Camera Raw (which Lightroom uses to process images) should most likely be able to render visible thumbs inside the Lightroom app.

I will definitely take a look on the camera settings but I changed the settings from Normal Raw to Canons compressed raw to see if there was a difference and there was not. I switched it back to normal raw since then. This problem is affecting my IPhone 15 Pro Max and my IPad Pro 12.9".  I have also looked at possible updated to my camera but it just randomly started happening without change.  Thank you again for your time

I will send you direct message to ask for a sample file, if you can zip up and share one with me.
