P: Lightroom Desktop: Z pick keyboard shortcut not working anymore in French

Explorer ,
Nov 05, 2020 Nov 05, 2020

Hi!

I'm using Lightroom 4.0 in French. The Z keyboard shortcut doesn't work as it should anymore. Instead of flagging a photo as a pick as it should, it now activates the white balance picker, which is associated to the W key and still works with the W key.

On an Azerty keyboard in France, Z is at the same spot as W on a Qwerty keyboard.

Can you fix this quickly, please? It's very painful to click the pick flag using the mouse while skimming through hundreds of pictures!

Thank you in advance! 🙂

Fixed with Lightroom 4.3, FINALLY! Thank you, though.

Hello? Any news?! 👋🏻

Picking pictures with a mouse, or even worse a trackpad, instead of a keyboard, for more than 6 months, is really annoying. And it's not like Lightroom was a free software developed by volunteers, or if you had only 10 users affected. Lightroom is worth 12€/month, and Adobe is one of the largest and oldest software company in the world!

Please do something, quickly, or I may switch to another software and service, as this bug refrains me from using Lightroom.

I have a notice a problem with the shortcut W on AZERTY keyboards. In fullscreen it acts as flagging as reject. But in normal mode, it will switch to white balance picker.

@Rikk Hi Rikk! It's been 5 months, do you have any news? It's getting long for a bug that makes selecting very painful and what seems a quick fix.

@Rikk Hi Rikk! It's still not fixed in Lightroom CC 4.2. Please fix this asap, as this bug makes editing, which I'm sure is by far one of the most used features of Lightroom, slow and painful, as affected users have to use the mouse to click the flag in the toolbar!

Full disclosure: I had lost this post so I've made a new post, with more details, on the Adobe Support Community. https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom/pick-z-and-white-balance-selector-w-keyboard-shortcuts-conf...

Hi!

In November 2020, I reported a bug with the default keyboard shortcut for picking a photo:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-bugs/p-lightroom-desktop-z-pick-keybo...

It had been fixed in version 4.3.

With 4.3, either in grid or detail view, the W key was the pick shortcut and the Z key the white balance shortcut. Which was fine, because W and Z are inverted in Qwerty and Azerty, so that W is next to X (reject shortcut).

I don't remember when, but it broke again!

With version 6.4, Z once again picks photos in either grid or detail view. W does nothing in grid view and is the white balance shortcut in detail view.

Can you please fix this for good?

(Tested on macOS 13.4, not tested on Windows, Web or iPadOS)

It isn't clear from reading this so can you confirm:

  1. Which type of keyboard you are using?
  2. What your language is set in OS?
  3. What your language is set in App?

It's clear from the previous bug report, which I provided a link to, but here we go 😉

1. French Azerty

2. French from France

3. French from France

With my previous bug report, someone from Belgium (which I think uses a different keyboard layout) had the same issue.
