P: New Lightroom Mobile Interface changes (accessing own albums) comments

Anyone else is annoyed by the new interface? I don't want to start in "all photos" the old start page was fine and I could quickly select the correct album I wanted to use/show.

Now I have to open a menu, scroll past a whole page of items I'm never going to use "my edits, unedited, imports" and others I rarely use "recyble bin, people, shared" until I can see my album structure (that I regulary use). Back button is exiting the app instead of going to the main page (that does not exist anymore). Additionally that drop down list always starts on the top, while the old album list returned me to the exact position I came from (if its a long list of albums). Just super annoying.

Also a privacy issue, when starting LR now it just shows whatever is on top in "all photos" before I could just start it and navigate to a specific album without reavling anything.

How do things like this make it through testing? Why don't you do something usefull, like allowing shared album user access to the star rating system?

I quickly glanced at the new edit interface but immediately switched back to the old one as I realized I have to do more clicks to open stuff that was previously just available.

Latest update makes it start in any "last used" album (so make sure what it was when showing people), if kept running in background. Back to "all photos" when starting fresh. And the album list is not starting on top every time but you can continue scrolling at the position of your previous album.

I wholeheartedly agree, I am immensely annoyed by the new version of the Lightroom app. I have NEVER used the Lightroom default albums and don't even have the "People" thing turned on, yet I have to scroll past all of those to get to my own albums. Then when I try to navigate back to a previous view using the back button, it closes the screen and I have to reopen it, which half the time leads me back into the view I don't want. Please fix this or add the option for a preferential order. I use Lightroom nearly on a daily basis and I'm quite computer/smartphone savvy, but I just can't get used to this and can't understate the little frustrations that pile up.

Also very inconsistent, if you use filter you need to press the back button to be able to change albums, but if not it exits the app.

They are messing things up more and more, like the aspect ratio that always used to be fixed initially, now its mostly unlocked, but fixed still for some funcitons like "auto rotation" that will look it as standard.

Another feedback for not liking the new interface.

1) It takes way too many clicks and scroll to get to my albums, which is the primary purpose of LR for me. The autogenerated folders are also annoying space hogs.

2) I find the bottom tabs to be wastful of space for me to browse my photos. (I also have no interest in Discovery of other people's photos)

2) Yea right, the Lightroom tap is the only one I'm using (as the Gallery tab sill is not able to show cr3 files), lot's of wasted space for stuff I never use.

Yes, please bring the old interface back.

You have the old version available, give us the choice to reinstall that.

The new interface is terrible. I think all of my complaints are covered in this forum, but I figured I'd add to the fire to further persuade Adobe to do something about it...now please change it back.

How do you switch back to the old interface to download and import photos ?

I also need to rollback to a previous update. I need LR to work as it has for the last few years. I don't want go wade through documentation to figure this latest mess out. I don't need my edits to be jumbled together with other edits from previous shoots. Edits need to live under the latest edit.

The latest changes have made a huge mess of my photo collection. Any software changes, if we'll designed, need to be as intuitive as possible. Those of us who do not use LR all day long, everyday need intelligent change, not chaotic change.

Hello @Jim Ehrmin

All your previous Lightroom imports, edits, and organizational structure is still in place in the mobile app's Lightroom tab.  Within that view, all that's changed is that your albums (aka "collections") and folders you may have created are accessed through the drop-down menu right under the 'Lr' button.  Using this drop-down menu means you no longer have to exit an album to see the list of all other albums.  Just switch to the collection/album you need.

You can simply ignore that Device tab, if you are not ingesting images from your camera roll.  The same, original import option (little blue button) exists in most places in the Lightroom tab.

I hope this helps a bit.

I am a 79 year old photographer who did tons of weddings on a 4x5.  Went "modern" in 2016".  Got two Leica's and Lightroom 6.  Life was beautiful. I am not computer savy so I just downloaded raw files and did simple edits. Crop, open shadow detail and vivid color is all I needed.  Have 3 school accounts I did a photo shoot for yesterday.  This morning when I turned on my Lightroom 6,  I got blown away with all the unessary to me data that was there. Could not import my raw files for some reason.  Background was full of all my photo files.  Could not find DEVELOPE button.  Am going crazy now that I can not process these photos that I was to have ready today.  All that is shown on the right side of the screen is QUICK DEVELOPE heading where all my simple controlls use to be.  What to do next ????  How do you go back to the simple easy screen that had the IMPORT and DEVELOPE buttons on it ??

Hello @tonym14756376

It sounds like you may be a Lightroom Classic user (Windows or Mac), and what you have downloaded and see now is the newer, cloud-centric Lightroom desktop app (simply named "Lightroom").  The newer app has a different user interface.

If you need to finding and downloading Lightroom Classic, please click the blue button "Download Lightroom Classic" on this help page: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/get-started.html

...And see the same page for other useful info.

If I misunderstood what you're looking for, please reply back.

The new interface is the opposite direction of what I want from the app. I don't need to see everything on my device when opening the app. I would rather Lightroom only show me what I've imported.

Hello!

We have help documents that answer some of the questions on this thread about how to batch import and segment by capture date in Device view, and how to sort and segment views in the Lightroom or Edits library tab.

Android Help: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/work-with-lightroom-mobile-android.html

iOS Help: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/work-with-lightroom-mobile-ios.html
iOS, Import Multiple Photos in Device View: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/import-mobile-ios.html

The rationale for the design change was to reduce effort/screen taps required to access and edit images storage on your device.  The previous design required users discover a tiny blue import button.  Manually importing an image and editing used to take many taps, and now it's just one or two.  Our Product Manager for Lightroom Mobile elaborates on this a bit more on this and other app updates at this recent blog post: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2023/06/13/adobe-photoshop-lightroom-speeds-up-editing-mobile-sharing-edit-replay-june-2023

Please do continue to share feedback!  We learn from it.  I just hoped to answer some questions with the help links above.

No one here is complaing about importing stuff, which also never was a problem "auto import" and the "share with LR mobile" function worked fine to feed my RAW files to the app. And what you did still did not do anything to fix geting CR3 files into LR automatically on Android.

And you did not reduce effort to access stored photos, you made it harder (more taps and useless scrolling needed to access regualry used albums).

Hey I'm sorry but I hate the new mobile Lightroom update. Can't scroll through photos quickly and pics keep auto sinking that I don't want and can't add photos as easy by simply selecting multiple and I dont know just doesn't seem as smooth. Little disappointed and would prefer it to be changed back to before please and thanks
