Photos edited on mobile app that have a bad "version" will not sync, and there is no way to filter.

I have a few albums on my phone where 1-2 photos won't sync to the cloud. I normally review + edit albums on my laptop, and import RAW photos taken from Halide and do some light edits / sharing from the mobile app. Short of looking at both libraries side by side (or selecting a range of photos and checking numbers etc) there is no way to find out what photos on my phone are not being synced.  It still shows up as edited, so that filter doesn't work, and I run a preset (landscape profile, auto mode, a few other things) on import + these days batch apply HDR range once the files are on my laptop.

Either of the following would work:

1) Have the functionality on the desktop version where you can filtered by synced.

2) Have the ability to filter by photos with issues on them.

3) Have some indication on the photo grid that a photo has issues - red badge in the corner, red X across it, whatever.

While this is, I guess, better than the behaviour for months where versions would just randomly revert themselves, there's still rough edges around the versions functionality.

Hello @erudobe

Please try signing into your account at lightroom.adobe.com (we call this the LR Web app)

Do you see a Sync Issues album?  If so, is this showing you images with Edit/Versions/Sync problems, at least somewhat like you are requesting?

To unblock those images apply a minor change.  I would first try to apply a non-visual change like adding a Keyword, or flag or star rating.  Or make some small edit.  Try one image at first.  The LR Web app may not let you make any changes -- if the image is stuck on iOS, you may need to make the edit on iOS as well.

Try putting the affected images from LR Web's Sync Issues into a new album, and see if that syncs over to the LR iOS app showing you the same affected images.  If so, I would make a minor edit to one image, and then copy/paste that edit to all other images in that album of affected images.  Here is a page with How To info on copy/pasting for batch editing: link

I hope something here helps or gives you additional troubleshooting ideas.

Ok, there's a sync issues folder in the web app.  I didn't know there were 15 photos - there's one from years ago that will never sync on my laptop and 4-5 I couldn't find on my phone, but there's some more that go back to 2020. Interesting.  It's telling me to open the lightroom app on devices I longer own.

I've been slowly trying to isolate affected images on my phone, blowing away the local version, then touching it again to have it sync, this is definitely faster.

It'd be nice if this would show up on native clients - obviously it will only have local sync issues, but the rate of this happening has increased since versions has been introduced to it being a fairly common occurance.

I can select the images, but once selected the only action is to delete them. There isn't any drag and drop functionality to move them into an album, though I can create albums in the web interface.

Flagging them doesn't change them syncing on either my laptop or phone.  The one that's been trying to sync for years on my laptop still doesn't show up under the syncing filter either.

With the date and file name it's easier to hunt them down on whatever device they're stuck on, but this is still more awkward than just being able to do this directly on the device.

The reset button gives no visual feedback on my iPhone. If I navigate out of edit view and back the message persists.

Tapping reset then swiping to another photo and back works, but that's not the most intuitive solution.

I'm down to 11 sync issues, which gets rid of the recent versions issues on my iPhone (the top 4 in the original list).

I've tracked down some of the pano files on my laptop and none of them exist - I assume those are panos I created then deleted before they were synced (sometimes I'll retry with different images or settings, or just think one is redundant since another set of images turned out better).

I've had one album since 2021 that has a mystery photo trying to sync. The 3/14/21 import date would line up, but that album ends with 6676 and the file name that won't sync is 6945-pano, which... doesn't line up at all.  I hunted down one of the old 2020 photos it says didn't sync from my phone, it doesnt exist anymore (I have photos on either side of it). I'm not sure if that's benign or not, but I don't recall feeling like I had photos missing from then.  I do sometimes feel like I took another photo to merge into a pano later, but that could just be me missing the button 😛

So 6945-pano exists on both my phone and laptop, and doesn't have any issues syncing. It was taken 3 days before the import date, so it's not like I cycled 10,000 photos and have the wrong 6945-pano.

I feel like the remaining 11 are probably just hiccups in the sync process that aren't actually issues.  All the recent versions sync issues on my phone are accounted for, there's still one on my laptop that doesn't have any clear clues as to what it could be.

"Tapping reset then swiping to another photo and back works". This is expected, exiting an edited image by advancing to the next image or returning to the thumbnail grid is what lets the app know you are done editing and are saving your edits.

Its sounds like the remaining items in Sync Issues can be deleted to clean things up.

Returning to the thumbnail grid doesn't reset, if I go back to the image the same warning image exists. If it's supposed to work the same as swiping sideways, then that's probably not expected behaviour.  It'd also be nice if the reset button just worked on the image when you're viewing it instead of having to swipe out and back.

Any way of tracking down a photo that doesn't sync from my laptop, doesn't show up in the syncing filter, and doesn't show up in the sync issues. It's from a backpacking trip in a slot canyon with many hundreds of photos, so I've never bothered to compare albums in detail on my laptop vs phone.

"Returning to the thumbnail grid doesn't reset".  Correct.  As I said, this is how to save/commit changes you made, if any.  You must choose Reset, or a select a previous edit from the Versions tab, or make a new edit, depending on the change you want to make.

If I hit reset, go to the thumbnail grid, and come back, the reset button is still there and it's locked.

If I hit reset, nothing happens and it's locked no matter how many times I hit reset.

I hit reset, swipe sideways to a new photo, then swipe back to the locked one, I can then edit it.

That's expected?  Is there any rationale for that?

That doesn't sound right.  Instead of reset, could you make a small edit like nudging the Texture or Clarity slider just a little?  And then step away from the image to commit that edit.  When you reopen that image, does the Reset dialog still appear or is that gone now?

The reset card on iOS locks out all edit functions, it takes up the lower 1/3 or so of the screen and sits on top of them.

There is no way to edit unless the reset warning is removed. The only way to remove it is to hit reset, then swipe away and back again.

Please update to the latest app 9.3 -- does this work any better for you?  For any existing images that were affected, you may still need to apply an edit.  If the Reset doesn't work better, try this

- go to thumbnail grid view

- long press on an images that has no issues but does have an edit, and tap 'Copy'

- select one or more of the affected images, and select 'Paste' to paste your edits

Does that override the error message shown for your problem images?

I was able to fix the photos by using the third method detailed above: "I hit reset, swipe sideways to a new photo, then swipe back to the locked one, I can then edit it."  I don't have any photos that need reset functionality at this point.

I still have one photo that won't sync in a massive album from 2010 that doesn't show up in the web view album or the sync album on my laptop.  That's a separate issue and at some point I should go over that trip again - many hundreds of photos in a long slot canyon with challenging light and contrast so it's not easy to just skim looking for the one difference from my phone.

Reset button on my phone was unresponsive again in the latest LR mobile for iOS. iPhone 14 Pro running 17.5.1.

Had the card appear over the edit interface while viewing a photo, tapping it multiple times had the button show it's active state, but the card didn't go away. Swiping to a previous photo and then coming back again like I did before solved the issue and the photo was editable once again.

Another photo I edited on my phone would not sync. This seems to be the current best workflow:

1) Notice the count is different between devices.
2) Log into the LR web app
3) Go to all photos in the sidebar, expand, and select the "Sync Issues" album.
4) Find the filename, go back to my phone, double tap on grid view, scroll for the filename.
5) Open the photo, see if it syncs over after an edit.

Is there a way that the sync issues folder could just show up on a device? Even if it wouldn't be a true "universal sync issues" it could be named "sync issues on device" or something.  That would greatly speed up the process.
