Plan Changing from Lightroom Mobile Premium (iOS) to Lightroom 1TB

New Here ,
Aug 04, 2023 Aug 04, 2023

Hello,

I have a question regarding my current Adobe Lightroom subscription. Through the Apple Store, I have a Lightroom Mobile Premium subscription (100GB). However, I am now interested in using Lightroom Classic on my computer as well.

I noticed that the Photography plan with 1TB storage (https://www.adobe.com/pl/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.html) offers both Lightroom Mobile and Classic, and I would like to switch to this plan.

My concern is about the transition. Can I purchase the Photography plan directly from Adobe and then cancel the Lightroom Mobile Premium subscription through Apple? I want to make sure that I don't lose any of my data stored in the cloud (as I currently have 30GB filled in the existing plan). I'm uncertain about what will happen if two overlapping plans are active simultaneously.

Has anyone here gone through a similar process? Any insights or advice on how to handle this transition smoothly would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Gabriela

Hello @Gabriela31498957h3vs

You are correct -- this is the right approach: " Can I purchase the Photography plan directly from Adobe and then cancel the Lightroom Mobile Premium subscription through Apple?"

After purchasing a plan that includes Lightroom desktop + mobile, do please confirm that plan is active by visiting https://account.adobe.com/

After that, you can then cancel the mobile plan that is only for iOS+Android.  You must cancel that in the appstore/subscription settings on your device.  After you cancel, your mobile plan will continue until the end of the current paid period.  Having both a mobile and a desktop plan both running is not a functional problem for Lightroom -- you should just be certain to cancel the mobile plan so you do not pay more money than you need to.

I would like to also add a comment considering the OP's statement- "I am now interested in using Lightroom Classic on my computer as well.

It is the PHOTOGRAPHY PLAN 1TB that will be needed!  NOT the Lightroom Plan 1TB!

Thank you for your response and helpful insights. I really appreciate it.

In Poland, it appears that the Lightroom 1TB plan includes access to Lightroom Classic, unlike the plans in the USA. I have attached a screenshots for reference.

I take from the screen-clips that LrC is included in both country plans. It is just that Adobe seems to omit the [LrC] logo and 'Classic' name from the Photography Plan (20GB) description! Marketing at work 🙂

A follow-up question from a similar situation.  When I got the mobile subscrition through Apple, it assigned me a login email (created by Apple) that ends in ... privaterelay.appleidcom.  If I cancel the Apple subscription after purchacing an Adobe subscription, how do I log into the new Adobe subsription so that it recognizes my existing data?  Up to now I've been signing in through Apple.

Hello @Jack28602920tzor

You can use any email ID you like when creating an Adobe account -- it sounds like you chose the easy Apple sign in method.  You can change plans and still sign into your existing account via the same Apple service on any device or computer.

However, if you prefer to change from the Apple-method to a simple email address + password setup, do this by changing your email details as described here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/change-email-address.html
