"Lightroom ran into a problem with your local catalog and must either quit or rest"

I'm desperate, Lightroom (normal, not Classic) keeps crashing in my macbook air (macOS Tahoe) with the message:

"Lightroom ran into a problem with your local catalog and must either quit or restart."

I've tried deleting the Lightroom Library.lrlibrary file as some forums suggested, unistalled and reinstalled, installed an older version, and still the same error.

Any help would be mostly welcome

I thought some comments further down the thread relate to Mac OS also?

It was a long shot anyway.

Partially good news then.... maybe reinstall and reset the prefs and see if that helps stability?

Done that, no changes

You want to avoid having the Lightroom Library.lrlibrary file in your Pictures folder under Google Drive's control. I'm not familiar with their interface, but there must be a way in Google Drive to protect that file. Otherwise they may delete it in an attempt to free up local disk space.

Hi, thanks for reaching out, and we're sorry about the trouble!

Please check if Lightroom has the necessary permissions on your Mac by checking the steps here: https://adobe.ly/3Lqh5ng

Once done, restart the machine and check if it makes a difference.

Thanks,
Nikunj

done that with no change... Lightroom is unusable in my mac... it's a new Macbook air M4, not an old computer. Fortunately I mostly use Lightroom Classic but I'd like to have all programs running as I'm paying the fee for all the photography programs
