Question

Renaming file removes all edits.

I have edited Nikon RAW images using the latest version of LR (not LRC).  When I rename the file (and XMP) both keywording and edits are removed and it reverts back to the original.  This just started the past week.  I'm using a MacBook Pro M3.  Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Thank you,

John

I assume you're using the Local mode, yes?

In which case, I have tested it on my MBP M2 (i.e. applied edits and metadata to selected images, then renamed both the images and the associated XMP sidecars) and after restarting LrD in Local mode the edits and metadata were still there. The only failure was when I deliberately renamed one of the XMP sidecars incorrectly, after which that image reverted to the original unedited state. Correcting the XMP sidecar name then restores the edits and metadata back to the raw file.

Have you checked and re-checked that you have renamed the XMP sidecar files correctly?

Yes, the XMPs are named the same as the RAW file. This just started happening.

I am running local and have the latest version of LR loaded. I’ll try reloading LR and see if that helps.

Thank you,
John
