I have many thousands of RAW files in Lr. A feature to convert such files to DNG (lossless or compressed) would be very helpful. This would work exactly like the Convert to DNG already in LrC. There are several reasons that this would be helpful:
- Reduce the time it takes to sync original files to local storage. For example, when moving to a new computer it takes many days over a pretty fast internet connection to download all of the original files.
- Reduce the space required to store all of the original files.
- Reduce the amount of cloud storage required (this objective is minor for me).
Also, an option to convert to DNG (lossless or lossy) on import would speed syncing after imports and would be a much better workflow than using the standalone DNG converter before importing.
