P: Make it possible to rate a shot from within the Editor

Hi,

You first sweep through the shots from a session in Rate & Review, and then start working on the selected ones in Edit. But I quite frequently have the need to adjust the ratings during editing, for example when a shot doesn't work out after all and need to be dropped from the selected picks.  It's clumsy to swich mode to Rate & Review to do this, and then back to Edit. Rate & Review provides the ability to change the star rating and flags by swiping up and down in the left and right parts of the picture. These gestures does as far as I can see not conflict with anything in the Edit mode, except when using tools like Crop or Masking. I propose adding these gestures to the Edit mode in all tools that doen't use gestures in the picture.

One thing that bugs me over and over and over

is how many clicks I have to get through to rate a photo when I am in develop mode or view mode.  I know you just moved it. But still...

I scroll through a huge shoot on my phone.  I pick one o like and I process it.  I often export it to my phone. Then I still have three hard navigations to get the ratings.  And it's always covered by the 'your photo has been exported' pop up.

Can't we rate from the selected menu in grid or from the develop menu.

Lightroom mobile on my phone.  Desktop classic I don't have this problem as I can hit five stars whenever I like to rate.

thanks.

It would be also great if rejected images are greyed out (or marked somehow), so I can skip them.

Maybe an optional alternative view that will show the pick, reject and rating as small icons in the images in the album for a better overview. Like in the grown up Lightroom.

I don't follow what the text books say when it comes to workflow.   The text books say, go through all your photos and rate them, then process the highest rated ones.

I wander through them, find one I like, process it, and then if I think it's come up well I then rate it. I return to old old shoots years later and I haven't prejudged them.  I find my masterpieces this way. Usually after a year or two after I took them.

so for me, being able to rate directly from the develop panel would be best.  I'd add a star next to all the other controls.  I prefer using stars over flags. I only give my good work five stars and don't use much except colours when making selections for books and magazine articles I am working on...

Since last updates rating and sorting features became very user unfriendly. Please, add rating to main menu bar and improve this functionality. It is key feature to sort thousands of photos.

Another reason to add this feature is that "Info and rating" isn't even available when browsing shots on the device in the Gallery function. You must make some editing changes first to get the shot imported, move to the Lightroom section and then start working on the ratings. It's a good idea to have Gallery and Lightroom sections, and automaticaly import the shots you have started to work on. But it makes it impossible to have ratings as the first step in the workflow. It's easier to stick with the old way if you want to do that, go to Lightroom, switch to "All photos" to make the Add button visible and use that as the first step.

The interface for switching to the flag / rating mode is kinda kludgey. It would be nice to allow me to do flagging from the edit window to manage the flags after I've decided how I like an edit or not.
