P: Can't see brush circle when I go into Select and Mask

I updated Photoshop Beta today. I'm not sure if it's a Beta update issue because it was working fine the whole day until like an hour ago. Suddenly, when I go into Select and Mask, I'm not able to see the brush circle. I only see my mouse.

The quick selection tool, refine edge brush tool, the brush tool all work when I click the mouse. I just don't see any circle around my mouse. I tried hitting the Caps Lock key, turned Photoshop on and off, turned my computer on and off, resetted all preferences, but the issue still remains.

Am I the only one having this issue?

I have the same problem, I'm using Windows 10. This seems a bug. For the moment back to nonbeta version.

You can get rid of this problem and go back to work by reinstalling the previous version (24.6.0), but then you get an annoying little un-closeable pop up window telling you to update. 🤣

Bonjour. Lorsque j'utilise l'outil supprimer et que je décoche la case "déposer après chaque trait", la brosse apparait normalement mais seulement au premier trait de sélection. Ensuite elle disparait et laisse place à la flèche de la souris. Je ne vois donc plus la brosse ni sa taille même si je la modifie, juste la flèche. Mais ça sélectionne toujours par contre, je peux continuer à tracer des sélections mais à l'aveugle. Ce n'est qu'avec la 24.7, ça n'a jamais fait ça avant et ça ne fait pas ça avec l'outil correcteur ou le pinceau. Seulement l'outil supprimer. Un trait de sélection et hop, plus de brosse. Si on décoche "déposer après chaque trait" c'est justement pour pouvoir faire une sélection en plusieurs étapes. C'est assez génant !

Cory, i just updated the Nvidia driver. I downloaded it on the Nvidia site and not by Windows update. Its from 2023.12.07. It will surely be good for my system but, unfortunatly, the problem is always here.... I past system info again. Thanks again for your help.

These 2023 releases are so bugged and slow (both Beta and Release). I rolled back to the previous version and now I get a popup forcing me to update. I can't even choose which version to use. This is so annoying

I was going to say that the brushes do still work, although it is difficult to see what you are doing in S&M. Content Aware Fill has the same problem, but it is much easier to see what is happening in that function, plus we can see the brush size in the Options Bar

However, after further experimenting, I was not able to see what effect the brush had in S&M. With Onion Skin selected, and Transparency set to 100%, the preview thumbnail appears to be working, but the main window is giving me zero feedback AFAICT.

I'd say that Onion Skin gives you the least feedback on what is happening, so it is worth checking thew other view options. With this flyaway hair example, I was able to work almost like normal, for instance.

I have become addicted to the beta version features, and want to keep using it, so I am going to stick with it as much as I can. It only takes a moment to switch to 24.6 with the crazy fast NVMe drives we have nowadays (Photoshop takes six seconds to open for me, and I have a lot of presets and third party plugins). So I really don't see the need to install earlier versions.

Mise à jour version 25 de Photoshop beta aujourd'hui. J'avais espoir que ça règle mon problème, bien au contraire. Maintenant je perds la brosse également avec les 3 outils de sélectionner et masquer en plus de l'outil supprimer... J'aimerai savoir si quelqu'un d'autre a ce soucis ?

Same problem for me. In select and mask -> refine edge/brush tool only my regular windows cursor shows instead of the normal brush circle. This has started since I updated the beta app a couple of weeks ago. Problem only in beta. Very annoying.

Greetings!
After the last update, the cursor is displayed incorrectly in the "Select and mask" mode. It looks like a normal Windows cursor, instead of the usual circle. This does not allow to understand the size and position of the brush.
I tried to reinstall the program, after deleting it, and also manually deleting all the remaining files. I tried to install previous versions - nothing helped. All settings have already been reset to default. I don't understand why this happened all of a sudden.
In the regular version of the program (not beta) everything works fine.

@TechTravis No, it definitely is the answer. If you want to use software that isn't buggy, DON'T USE BETA SOFTWARE.

@Earth Oliver Chillax dude. Everybody knows this is a beta version and a novel technology on top of that, and here you are nagging at people as if the non-beta releases weren't plagued by bugs. 😂
