This no longer works... to create an oil painting - It still works in the non-beta version

  • Channels
  • Then “+” add layer
  • Edit>Fill>Brightness (B) 40% code 666666
  • Reselect RGB
  • Ctrl Click on the Gray layer
  • Hit OK for the error message

Generative Fill is used for oil painting with reduced opacity. It works okay with Photoshop 25.9.1 but not at all with Photoshop Beta 25.10.0.

See the attachment.

Hi dear community, as been asked below, i allow myself to add that result that i am getting for already 3 days in a row. Always the same blue canvas, on 3 different computers...

I hope this helps.

Please heal that awesome Beta back soon

Same problem here. If I make a selection in quickmask mode with a densitiy of 30% in the current stable version of Photoshop 2024 it work fine and produces the desired result. If I do the same in the current PhotoShop Beta version it produces only a blue glass like effect. Same blue result with every image I tried.

Changing the layer opacity to 30% is something different. A selection with an opacity of 30% should allow Generative Fill to "see" down to the layer below.

Hello, I am attempting to apply a generative fill to make a drawing look like a oil painting. I am following these instructions: https://www.behance.net/gallery/172451101/Turn-Photos-into-Painterly-Art-with-Generative-Fill

(I have been using PS for my job for many many years)

Please see my screen shots to show what is happening. I am following the instructions on behance to a T.Screenshot 2024-08-06 at 11.33.30 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-08-06 at 11.33.53 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-08-06 at 11.34.12 AM.png

Does anyone have any advice? I am frustrated.

Thank you

tinah16737248,

The release version Photoshop 2024 (ps ver 25.11) still works with those directions, it's just the Photoshop public Beta versions that don't.

THank you for your reply.
I am a member of Creative Cloud, so my PS Beta version is 25.12.0

Do you know of a different video that might be able to help me with this?
