P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

hi ! You can open images by using the export fonction of lightroom, but it is still an issue as it is the ONLY way to open an image from lr to Ps it is still not possible for me to open it as layers or anything els... if saved after processed, the image will be stored in lightroom but before the prepocessed image...it used to be stored after. I hope it will help, and  Adobe will find a way to correct thisCapture d’écran light 2023-07-31 051841.jpg

Same problem. I have to try it twice, then after the second time it'll say it can't launch it (even though it's already open), then I'll hit cancel and the first attempt will eventually open.

After updating this morning now my files won't open from lightroom.  I can't use 2023 version either.  So it's a bad deal.

I had the same problem with both Photoshop versions not working. Now it is only the Beta that won't work. Maybe try uninstalling Photoshop 2023 than reinstalling and restarting.

I had/have the same issue.  Using an OS system and doing the click on image to "Edit in Photoshop".  Uninstalled the Beta to go back to Photoshop 23 and now LR will not let me choose Photoshop as a preference to edit in.  HELP!  How do I get back to what I was doing before I downloaded the Beta?

We need to confirm OS used:  Windows 11

Additionally, are you using the default Edit In PS?  Yes, happens with both "Edit in PS" and with "Open as Layers in PS"

Hope y'all can fix this very soon!

I was having the same issue today, with both the Beta and 24.7. I removed the Beta from my computer because I am and just wanted to work with the stable release instead since I am not finding the generative AI that useful for my work right now. Anyway, when I went to export, I ran into the same issue. Re-installed the Beta, same issue persisted. I then went back to 24.6 and then it started giving me all sorts of errors and it told me a driver issue with my graphics card. I updated my driver for my graphics card and now everything seems to be fine with 24.7, I haven't tried beta, but I assume its probably fine now too. I have an ASUS Proart studiobook with a Nvidia 4060 (Windows 11), so if you have a 4060 Nvidia graphics card, or just an Nvidia graphics card, try seeing if it needs a driver update and if that works for you.

So for me, all I needed to do was update my graphics card driver.

To fix this, revert back to previous version: Steps: On Creative Cloud > Bet Apps > Photoshop Beta > click the tripple dot > other versions > revert to 24.7.

(Apparently: version 25 has bugs when editing as Tiff from lightroom)

I can't seem to open multiple photos in LrC in Photoshop as layers, it does work to open one photo at a time but then when I save the Photoshop doc it doesn't pull back into LrC. Tried using Photoshop Beta and also unistalled and reinstalled all of my apps. Anyone having similar problems or any suggestions?

I use a MacBook Pro 2022 model.  I frequently export an image from Lr to Ps 2023 for some minor editing (like using the magical erase function in Ps).  In the last few days, I suddenly cannot do that.  I hit the "Edit in Photoshop 2023" button and a Ps page come up which I have not seen before, and my image is not there.  I used to see the page showing my image, with all the options laid out as toolbars and I  could use what I needed; now the image is not visible, and I cannot find the magical erase tool.  I am a complete novice with Ps so maybe I have changed a setting inadvertently?

Yes, exactly the same problem for me. I blend stacks a lot in Photoshop from LRC, and even disabling the Beta choice, still won't import into Photoshop. All versions up to date. Did you find a fix yet?

Hello. I've just installed the latest beta version of Photoshop and since then I've had no link between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop (beta or standard). The "edit in..." function opens Photoshop, but the image selected in Lightroom is not displayed. Thanks for your help.

You can't even open any single image in PS regular or beta. In beta you get at least either "end of file" error or defect file. When will adobe fix this as it's annoying and should have been fixed immediatly but rather it's since the last updates.

Hallo Support Community,

We have to mention it otherwise Photoshop Beta 25.0.0 will not repaired. If the Adobe team does not get to know about the problem it could take longer to repair.
Generative Expand is a great new feature that comes only in 25.0.0 and I have started to use it. Its very good and I already miss it in the previous Beta version.

When i export my file in lightroom to edit in photoshop, lightroom will direct me to photoshop and it will open the program, but it doens't open the file.
Then when i try again in lightroom i get several errors that path's can't be found en that it won't export the file, but after closing those messages, the file will open in photoshop.
But i have to select and click about 6 times before my file will open in photoshop.

What happened? And does anyone know a solution?

Thanks in advance

Hello the current Version Beta 25.0 in Photoshop does not allow to open Pictures out of Lightroom.

Is there a possibility to open Pictures out of Lightroom with the normal Release Version of Photoshop ?

When i add the normal Release Version  of Photoshop in Lightroom to open Pictures it generates automatically a new Copy which i don't want. It generates a new Raw File whenever i open a picture.

Hello. I have a problem with my Lightroom Classic. When I try to open a image as a smart object in Photoshop or only try to open and edit in Photoshop from LRC I get a error message that it can't open Photoshop 2024.
But PS 2024 aren't reelesed yet. How do I fix that problem?

Update of my recent post: I found a way to revert the Beta 24.7. The key is to open the Creative Cloud app, click on Apps (at the top), then on Beta apps (on the left), then locate Photoshop (Beta) under Installed beta apps, then click on the ..., and uninstall v 25 and then install v 24.7. Hope this helps!
