P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Hi there,

I'm having issues opening images in Photoshop through Lightroom. I usually do a base edit coat in Lightroom then retouch/colour grade in Photoshop. For some reason, it stopped working when I select "edit in Photoshop". I've done everything previous forums/adobe support help including un-installing Photoshop Beta. All apps are up-to-date, this issue has gone on for a week and is significantly extending my workflow time which isn't helpful when I've got client deadlines.

As a full-time photographer, it is vital this issue is fixed asap.

I use Mac which is also up-to-date.

Thank you for looking into this 🙂

This happens pretty consistently with Photoshop beta, but not regular Photoshop.  I select a photo, select "Edit in", then select "Edit in Photoshop (beta)..."

Photoshop beta opens, but does not load the photo.  Nothing seems to happen.  After a minute or two, Lightroom gives one of two errors (attached), and then, only after the error, Photoshop loads the photos.

Hello all. This is my first time of posting.

I am trying to stack an image of the moon in photoshop to align and blend the layers. There are 7 images. Normally selecting all the images from the develop or library workflow, right click, edit in, open in layers in photoshop, works.  For some reason this is not the case tonight.

If photoshop is closed, the app in triggered and opens but only the 'opening screen' is open. It doesn't then switch to the 'editing side' of photshop and load the layers. If the app is already open my windows just switch to photshop and nothing else happens. I have tried with another image opened but this does not work.

I am using cc2023 and according to adobe cloud everything is up to date. I have beta installed as well. It has worked in the past with both CC23 and Beta installed. I am on a mac running Ventura 13.4.1. Photoshop 24.7.0. Lightroom release 12.4.

Many thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I also tried to open in Ps Beta and it would not open. Then I ran CleanMyMac to free up RAM and disk space. It still won't open. Has anyone reached out to Adobe to find out what is going on?

I CAN drop the LR photo directly into PS and it works. Just the 'Edit In' does not work.

Hallo zusammen

since the last update I can no longer edit to PS from LRc, photo does not go to PS.

PS does open but no photo? I do not receive an error message?

If I select edit in -> open as smart object. Yes then it will work and the photo goes to PS. But if I then save from PS, photo will no longer automatically enter LRc but I have to sync the folder before I see it!

I have this same issue with the same error message. I can open a single image after clicking OK on the error message.  However, there seems to be no way to open images as layers which is fundamental to my current project.  I have rolled back to the version of Photoshop recommended and rebooted my computer, but the problem persists.  A Photography Plan is not cheap so a solution is urgently needed.  I absolutely hate that there is no way to communicate directly with Adobe on this.

Xnybor! I had the same problems myself until I returned the PS program one version back to 24.6.0. Try it, because I'm on a MAC myself and everything works normally for me now.

@GiacomoFPH

The bug deceibed in this thread came with Beta version 25.0 and this was released 3 weeks ago.

In the meantime the are no new updates for the Beta version.

This problem does not affect the normal Photoshop 2023 version.

We have to be patient until Adobe fixed the problem.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried using cc23 and not beta and it's not working. Does this mean I need to uninstall beta?

Thanks

I uninstalled it from my laptop and only use it on my desktop. So I do all my work betweeen LrC and PS on the laptop and special edits on the desktop. For me its the safest route.

@james22832949j3gn  Try to uninstall the Beta and then reinstall your Photoshop 2023 version

Can not open photoshop from lightroom. Completely uninstalled PS But the BETA version stays and there is no uninstall or a way to go back to a previous version. If I goto all apps in Creative cloud desktop it doesn't even show up but if I go to updates it is there.
