P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Greetings all,

Lightroom Classic 12.5 released this evening.  If used in conjunction with PS Beta 25.0 or later, this erroneous error message plus long open wait time should be mitigated. Please install LrC 12.5 and make certain that your Beta is up to date.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

2 issues launching files from LR.  When I [ctrl+e] I get a "The file could not be launched because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be opened" message. But in fact PS 24 does open and gives 2 pop ups of it's own...a repetative info "Try Now" button and then a "Discover" panel.  Once I close all three pop ups the image sometimes will launch anyway and sometimes requires a 2nd command.

Additionally LR is now incapable of launching 2 or more files as layers in PS 2024.

I'm having the same issue - on both a Mac and a PC - hopefully this can be fixed soon.

Ich habe das Problem mit Lightroom, weil ich keine Bilder mehr zu PS weitergeben kann! Hast du dafür eine Lösung? Das wäre so toll!

Tell me, the regular process creates no TIFF and seems to work on the RAW file.  Correct?  I had to create a custom editor in the past to open normal PS, and it creates a TIFF.  Is that bad?

And oddly it opens it as a TIFF immediately. That's not normal.

This is beyond frustrating. I'm having the same issues listed above on my Mac. Hoping they roll back the fix soon, I have a backlog of client edits.

I'm on the latest versions of LrC, PS, and PS Beta.  When I press Cmd-E to edit a photo in PS Beta, LrC will wait for some period of time like it's hung. PS Beta starts but no photo is opened.  Then LrC finally puts up a pop up (See attached) saying it couldn't open the file. When I click OK, the file opens in PS Beta.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both LrC and PS Beta. Suggestions?

I think we are all experiencing the same thing and it sounds like Adobe knows about it.

I uninstalled the latest Beta version as recommended and went back to 24.6 and seems to be working okay for me now.

Also—there's no need to uninstall first. Just choose the previous version and you'll see a message that says that the installed version will be uninstalled and replaced.

Roll back to 24.7 for the time being and everything seems fine. My guess is a further patch will be issued shortly to get rid of this issue.

Can I also suggest when the patch is issued to address this problem its issued as 25.01 or 25.1 to give some clear delineation identifying the current [fixed] version please?

Exactly the same issue here - I get the message "File could not be edited - Photoshop 2024 could not be started (Translation from German to English). But - after clicking several times to "ok" (in order to close the message window) I'm realizing that a TIFF File has been created via LR Classic and then it will be opened in Photoshop 2024. I never had this issue before.  (Lightroom Classic 12.4 / Camera Raw 15.4)
By the way I have always to open PS ("normal version or Beta) first before using "open in Photoshop.exe (or 2024)". Otherwise most tools in PS will not work properly.
